Hulu has revealed the cast of Don’t Get High, a comedy series created by Megan Ganz, who is also behind Mythic Quest. The project is being produced in partnership with 20th Television and is currently at the pilot stage. This initial announcement also reveals the actors who will participate as series regulars and guest stars.
The show combines experienced performers with rising names, placing them together in a school setting that emphasizes humor and recognizable dynamics. With the creative direction already clear, the pilot begins to shape its identity even before its release.
The central story
The series follows Penny, described as an alpha dweeb, who decides to create an anti-drug group at her high school. The plan is intended to make friends and gain influence among her peers. Things do not unfold as expected, and that failed attempt becomes the starting point for the story.

Tony Hale as Officer Popkey
Among the names already revealed is Tony Hale, a two-time Emmy winner recognized for his work in Veep and Arrested Development. In this pilot, he steps into the role of Officer Popkey, the school cop who treats the job with a level of seriousness that feels almost out of place. The character stands as the main figure of authority on campus, shaping how the story unfolds around the students.
The main cast of Don’t Get High
The group of series regulars includes six characters. Ashley Brooke plays Penny, the student who starts the anti-drug group. Olivia Gill portrays Lennon, the most popular girl in school and Penny’s rival. Oscar Williams appears as Dylan, described as a brooding bad boy. Erin Morton takes on the role of Lane, Penny’s eccentric and loyal best friend. Daniel Rosales plays Trevor, another of Penny’s close friends, a misanthrope who prefers to fade into the background.
This lineup defines the central figures around Penny, presenting contrasting personalities and roles that drive the action of the pilot. Each character has a clear function in the unfolding of the school narrative.

Guest appearances
The list of guest stars brings in more familiar faces. Michelle Buteau takes on the role of Principal Fishbach, a school head who is described as put-upon. Casey Wilson joins as Marie, Penny’s mother. Dan Thompson plays Hook, the quarterback and Lennon’s boyfriend. Macoy Stewart shows up as Ben, co-captain of the cheerleading squad, and Chloe Hakola is Vicki, the other co-captain with a reputation as the party girl. Together, they round out the setting and add more layers to the story within the school world.
The production team
Megan Ganz serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer of the pilot. Adam Fishbach and Mara Herron also join as executive producers. The studio responsible for the project is 20th Television.

What has been confirmed so far?
There is no premiere date at this stage, and it has not been confirmed if the pilot will move ahead into a full season. What is known for now is the cast, the character outlines, and the creative team leading the project.
An overall view
Don’t Get High presents itself as a high school comedy that brings together different archetypes: the ambitious student, the popular rival, close friends with distinct traits, and figures of authority. Tony Hale’s Officer Popkey adds to this mix by embodying the role of the overly serious school officer. The supporting roles of teachers, family members, and other students help form the complete picture of the story.

Although the series is still at the pilot stage, Don’t Get High already stands out for the presence of well-known names in the cast and for the involvement of Megan Ganz in both writing and production. With the creative team and the cast now introduced, the project takes its first steps as part of Hulu’s future lineup, waiting for the decision that will determine if it continues as a full series.
