Hulu has recently unveiled the official poster of Chad Powers, the half-hour comedy starring Glen Powell, and it is precisely that type of bold, dumb tease that makes you wish to be reminded when it arrives.

The poster tilts into a sun-dipped, rather retro palette, having Powell and Michael Waldron dressed in football attire, the kind of image that promises ubiquitous laughs, a bit of heart, and a tremendous amount of disguise-related hijinks. Hulu’s marketing strategy provides us with the vibe, even before the show has aired: an assured, visually charged teaser that shouts sports comedy with a touch of craziness.

What Chad Powers is actually about

Chad Powers, at its very essence, is a comedy series revolving around a man in a sports setting. Glen Powell stars as Russ Holliday, a flashy college quarterback who ends up destroying his career because of his misconduct and impudence. Desiring a second opportunity at remaking his way into the game, Russ masquerades as a long-haired, goofy walk-on named Chad Powers to join a struggling Southern college team.

What ensues is a blend of comic confusion and self-development. The entire show is built on this witty premise: we see him hiding out in the open as he deals with locker-room drama, disguise jokes, and the eternal conflict between his massive ego and his desire to change.

What the poster tells us

Hulu’s key art for Chad Powers is a shorthand cleverness: big title treatment, a palette that borders on nostalgia and sunshine, and Powell in the kind of look that screams both athlete and fish-out-of-water comedy. In brief: laughs first, locker-room drama second.

In case you are wondering whether the poster provides spoilers: no, not really. The art is clever in its omissions. It provides clues to the disguise and the game but withholds the delicate artifices that make it realistic. It conveys more of the tone than the plot, and therein lies the trick: to make people excited, leave a little mystery to it, and have the initial episodes do the heavy lifting.

Release and other details

Chad Powers will be arriving on Hulu this fall with the premiere date on 30th September, 2025, at the end of the month. The new poster was released after a gradual progression of teasers and trailers aimed at creating buzz. Don’t worry about spoilers, though you will not find much of the plot in the poster. It is more about establishing the atmosphere, preserving the mystery, and having the initial episodes as the ones to provide the actual story.

The comedy has a solid ground behind the scenes. Character Glen Powell is co-creating the series with Michael Waldron, who has a reputation for combining genres in innovative ways. Collectively, they created a style that blends old-school “impostor” comedies with more contemporary character-driven humor.

The show's concept was, in fact, inspired by a funny sketch by Eli Manning where he disguised himself as Chad Powers in a football match. The seed of the entire series was that particular joke. Manning is also an executive producer, with other renowned names joining him. This background, a sports prank that millions of people were already fond of, gives the show a playful wink and a head start with viewers.

The poster and initial trailers increase our expectations. Assuming you prefer character comedies set against a sports backdrop (and watching a star do something weird with a false nose and a wig), Chad Powers is the one to put on your watchlist when it arrives on Hulu.
