Hysteria! is an eight-part coming-of-age horror show on Peacock that harkens back to the nostalgia of the '80s. It is set against the backdrop of the 'Satanic Panic' or that era in which parents across America were concerned that their children were falling under the influence of Satanic or dark forces.
Created by Matthew Scott Kane and David A. Goodman, the inspiration behind the series was the period in American history that has often been overlooked in terms of dramatic setting.
According to a report by CNET, Hysteria! creator Kane revealed the reason behind putting his finger on the '80s for a narrative backdrop. He commented:
"While we're in this period where there's a glut of '80s nostalgia pieces, I felt like here's a corner that is not really being explored. Here's an area where we can talk about today, by talking about this."

The makers of the series believe that audiences will be able to appreciate the devastating effects of disinformation and misinformation among the masses in lieu of something as repulsive as the Satanic Panic.

Linda is Dylan Campbell's mother and often struggles to find meaning in her son's out-of-the-ordinary activities. This hurls her down the path of self-doubt eventually.
3) Emjay Anthony as Dylan Campbell
Dylan is a nerdy teenager who is an introvert in school and mostly keeps to himself, except that he is in a heavy metal band called Dethkrunch along with his two buddies Jordy and Spud.
4) Chiara Aurelia as Jordy
Jordy is an imaginative Goth disciple with a razor-sharp mouth. She is also the lead vocalist of Dethkrunch.
5) Nikki Hahn as Faith Whitehead
Faith hangs in the balance of perception between what others think of her and what her mother wants her to be. While the world considers her as devout as her mother, Tracy considers her to be a deviant sinner on Hysteria!.
6) Kezii Curtis as Spud
Spud is the drummer of the band and is often at odds with his parents. He is also a fan of several conspiracy theories.
7) Bruce Campbell as Chief Dandridge
The Chief is cool, calculating, and precise. He heads the investigation into the disappearance of Ryan Hudson, the missing quarterback.
8) Nolan North as Gene Campbell
Gene is Dylan's typical suburban father who is comfortable in his own zone.
9) Garret Dillahunt as The Reverend
The Reverend might seem to be plain and simple on the surface but that's not quite true. Watch out for this one on Hysteria!
10) Milly Shapiro as Ingrid
Ingrid is another of the nerdy kids at school and owns a pet goat whom she calls Cheerio.
11) Elijah Richardson as Cliff
Cliff is the quintessential all-rounder at school and a popular child.
12) Allison Scagliotti as Officer Olsen
Olsen is second in command after Chief Dandridge and conducts herself admirably throughout the investigation.
13) Jessica Treska as Judith
Judith is the most sought-after girl in school and therefore wields a lot of power and influence. She is also Dylan's crush.
