I have to admit, I hate seeing Jonathan and Ana get away with breaking a tile in The Amazing Race Season 37 Episode 11. In my opinion, the race is supposed to reward precision, attentiveness, and adherence to the rules, but they did the opposite. They made a thoughtless error by dropping a delicate piece of their mosaic puzzle during a challenge, but they avoided any serious consequences. That is not just frustrating but also unfair.
If a team breaks something as important as a puzzle piece in a task that tests delicacy and attention to detail, I believe there should be consequences. The show has previously fined teams for similar errors, so why not now? I believe that this moment jeopardized the challenge's integrity. Jonathan and Ana sailed past what could have been a game-changing mistake, and I can't help but feel irritated seeing them stroll away unscathed.
I understand that The Amazing Race is fast-paced and full of unexpected twists. However, in such a tight battle, details count. It doesn't sit well with me to watch two racers break the rules, whether on purpose or not, and still progress, especially on the night before the grand finale. If that isn't irritating, I'm not sure what is.
Jonathan and Ana got away after a tile mishap in The Amazing Race finale
The tension reached its height in The Amazing Race Season 37 Episode 11 during a complicated mosaic tile puzzle challenge at Porto's Ode Wine House. Contestants had to recreate a delicate pattern using fragile ceramic tiles, with no tolerance for error.
However, when Jonathan dropped and broke one of the tiles by accident, it appeared to be a turning point. With no spares available, the rules appeared obvious. As the show ended on a cliffhanger, the great question was whether Jonathan and Ana's error would cost them their spot in the finale, or if Alyssa and Josiah would move ahead.
However, episode 12, the grand finale, began with a surprise twist. Not only did Jonathan and Ana face no punishment for the damaged tile, but they also finished the challenge and advanced to the final 3. Their decision to glue the broken piece back into the mosaic helped them meet the judges' requirements, and they advanced, eliminating Alyssa and Josiah from The Amazing Race, who had played a clean and steady game. The incident, which should have carried weight, appeared to have been completely overlooked.
Jonathan and Ana did not win, despite the fact that they got away without a penalty. They lost valuable time after switching routes mid-leg in the finale and failed to finish first. A simple inaccuracy in a challenge that required accuracy allowed a team to get ahead.
After the episode aired, viewers took to social media. Many people thought Alyssa and Josiah earned the last position. They did not remove tiles, violate rules, or rely on questionable remedies. Their elimination because another team was able to avoid what could have been a race-ending blunder felt harsh. No matter how it ends, Jonathan and Ana's place in the top three was gained under dubious circumstances, and that just doesn't sit right.
All the episodes of The Amazing Race Season 37 are now available on CBS.
