I believe that Disney can correct this Jessica Jones mistake from the Netflix show

Many people met Jessica Jones for the first time in 2015 with the release of the first season of the self-titled show on Netflix. Introduced in the comics in 2001, it took Jessica fourteen years to receive a live-action adaptation.

Krysten Ritter, who played the character in the Netflix MCU show, reprised the role four times, three seasons of her solo series, and one season of The Defenders, in which she teamed up with Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. But, despite the four appearances, the Netflix version of the character ignored two aspects of Jessica Jones from the comics: Her flight powers and superhero monicker.

Disney can finally show us Jessica Jones flying

The Netflix series Jessica Jones adapted the character's super strength, but avoided her taking her superhero monikers like Power Woman, Knightress, and Jewel. Furthermore, we did not see her fly, except for a few hints here and there in her solo series and The Defenders. Throughout the Netflix tenure, Jessica could take high leaps, much like Superman in the 1930s.

However, this mistake can be rectified in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which is set to feature Jessica, with Ritter returning to play the role. Her return was officially confirmed at the Disney panel at the upfront event on May 13, 2025. Ritter said this while sharing the stage with Charlie Cox:

“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”

What does Jessica Jones' return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 mean?

A lot of Marvel fans believe that Krysten Ritter's return as the alcoholic PI in Born Again Season 2 is a sign of Luke Cage and Iron Fist returning to the MCU. Moreover, Brad Winderbaum, the head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel, hinted that they are exploring the option of bringing back the Defenders in an Entertainment Weekly interview published in February 2025:

“I can't say much, but I'll tell you that it's so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously we don't have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book. If you can draw it, you can do it. It's dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."

While Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones' return hasn't been officially confirmed, it is important to note that based on Winderbaum's past comment, and Jessica's official return, it won't be surprising to see the other two Defenders return.
