WWE star Becky Lynch sure enjoyed her time as a Starfleet bridge crew in the upcoming Paramount+ series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, and already hopes to return for Season 2.
Starfleet Academy, the 12th installment in the Star Trek universe, is an upcoming science fiction series headlined by Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter. In December 2024, Becky Lynch, the current WWE Womenās Intercontinental Champion, was announced as one of the guest stars on the show.
Filming for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1 wrapped in February, and the series is slated for an early 2026 release. In addition, Season 2 is already in development. In a recent appearance on Cody Rhodes' What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Lynch expressed her desire to return in Season 2:
āIt was great. I loved it. I believe Iām coming back for the second season, which I think theyāre going to be filming soon.''
The upcoming Paramount+ series is set in the 32nd century, the far-future of the Star Trek franchise, where a new class of officers is taught onboard the USS Athena under the command of Captain Nahla Ake (Hunter).

Becky Lynch shares her experience on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1
A new class of Starfleet cadets, ready to come of age, will train to be officers in Paramount+'s Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Among an impressive ensemble cast, fans were surprised to learn about Becky Lynch's casting news back in December 2024.
The Irish professional wrestler and a popular WWE star turned heads with her 2024 casting and also shared her experience on the series in the podcast:
''It was an incredible experience. Youāre going through 12-14 hour days, and I didnāt want to leave. I loved every second of it because youāre around all these great minds. Great director, producer, writers, and actors. Getting to play opposite Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti. Just how good they are.ā
While the details about Becky Lynch's Star Trek: Starfleet Academy role are kept under wraps, her character will be a member of the Starfleet bridge crew, working under Hunter's Captain Nahla Ake. Since Becky Lynch will appear in a guest role in the upcoming series, it is not confirmed whether she will return for Season 2.
However, Lynch's recent comments suggest that her character will likely survive her first outing, and there is still scope for her to join Captain Ake and her crew in the sophomore season.

Holly Hunter is all set to command the new class of cadets in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1, as Nahla Ake, the half-Lanthanite captain of the USS Athena and the chancellor of Starfleet Academy. Hunter is best known for her performance in The Piano and The Firm.
Ake's crew will fight against actor Paul Giamatti's part-Klingon, part-Tellarite hybrid villain Nus Braka. Giamatti won a Golden Globe Award for his 2023 Christmas movie The Holdovers and is also best known for his performances in John Adams and Cinderella Man.
The supporting cast for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy includes Sandro Rosta as Caleb Mir, Karim DianƩ as Jay-Den Kraag, George Hawkins as Darem Reymi, Zoƫ Steiner as Tarima Sadal, Robert Picardo as the Doctor, Tig Notaro as Jett Reno, Oded Fehr as Charles Vance, Gina Yashere as Lura Thok, and Tatiana Maslany. In addition, Discovery star Mary Wiseman will also reprise her character of Sylvia Tilly in a guest capacity.
