After years of waiting and wondering, the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer has finally been dropped, and fans are going crazy. Not just excited, but also curious about everything they might've missed in those brief glimpses.
Additionally, Netflix has also shared the release date for the Hawkins saga at the Tudum 2025 event. The last season will come out in three parts, kicking off in November, followed by the second installment on Christmas, and wrapping up with a special New Year's finale.
At first, the trailer seems to capture all the key emotional moments: Eleven's quiet intensity, Hawkins under siege and the gang coming together for one last go. But as you rewatch it, more and more questions start pouring in.
What makes the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer so impactful isn't just because of the suspense and nostalgia. But it's also intriguing to notice how well the Duffer Brothers have tucked in clues about what’s coming.
Whether it's a cryptic dialogue, a quick flash of the Upside Down or a moment of silence hinting at a character's demise, there is significantly more going on than we saw. And honestly, I'm sure it will surprise you to see what you overlooked.
Keep reading to explore the details many fans might have missed in the trailer.
The secret clues fans totally missed in the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer

Taking place in the fall of 1987, the story in Stranger Things Season 5 begins 18 months after the events of Season 4. Hawkins is now in a military quarantine due to the creation of the Rifts, and the government is ramping up the search for Eleven.
The main focus of the group is to track down and kill Vecna, where he is at the moment unknown. As the anniversary of Will Byers' disappearance is approaching, the dreaded feeling begins to creep back into the town.
As we see in the trailer, each character is facing the toughest time in their lives, as killing Vecna will happen now or never. Eleven is seen as incredibly disturbed, with sounds in her head. Joyce is trying to save people while also ensuring her son's safety.
However, this isn't all that I saw in the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer. After rewatching the clip, here are some intriguing details fans must explore:
1) The edge of the Upside Down

If you look closely at one of the glimpses in the trailer, there's a wall-like structure, most likely the edge of Upside Down. We also see two people observing the giant structure, and I believe it's the father-daughter duo, Eleven and Hopper.
It looks like the place where the Upside Down ends, or maybe this is the wall that's trying to seal off or cut off access between the real world (Hawkins town) and the Upside Down.
The shadowy parallel dimension that mirrors Hawkins is filled with monsters and dark energy. In previous seasons, the barriers between these two worlds have weakened, allowing creatures like the Demogorgon or Vecna to enter Hawkins and cause chaos.

2) Joyce prepares to fight a monster from the Upside Down

In another clip of the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer, Joyce is seen holding an axe, with Will to her left and Buckley to her right. There also seems to be another person held at the top, similar to how Vecna controls his victims before killing them.
So, Joyce holding a weapon clarifies that she's ready to fight someone. But who exactly? If you noticed, the lights are flickering, and this happens only when there's someone unwelcome from the dark side of Hawkins, which is the Upside Down.
There have been speculations among Stranger Things fans that Robin and Joyce are set to team up, and this clip only fuels those rumors even more. The setting looks like they are at a farm, where Hopper is likely to investigate on rotten pumpkins.
3) Max stays in a coma for the entire season?

It's quite haunting for me to think of Max being in a coma for the entire Stranger Things Season 5, as there won't be more of this globally acclaimed series. As seen in the Season 4 finale, Max walomst lost her life to Vecna, but she survived.
However, the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer hints that she might never wake up, or until the very end. Even set leaks couldn't reveal anything about Sadie Sink's character and storyline. Lucas is also seen next to her, waiting for Max to regain her consciousness, as things have taken the darkest turn in Hawkins.
4) Will passes out during the fight

One of the most chilling moments in the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer is when Will shouts "run", and then in the next clip we see Joyce holding him as he's unconscious. At the same time, Mike is trying to protect the other three new characters, likely an evil from the Upside Down.
As shown in the clip, there's a military base with soldiers, prepared for a fight, as a seal on the ground opens. Noticing the red color and flames, it seems like it's another way to the Upside Down, which is about to break, and this is when Will shouts and then passes out.
So, a lot is coming in Stranger Things Season 5, Part I, arriving November 26, 2025, only on Netflix.
