Created by Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King, is a crime drama show featuring Sylvester Stallone, Jay Will, Martin Starr, and others. The show has two seasons till now and began airing on Paramount+ from November 13, 2022.

Tulsa King is about Dwight “The General” Manfredi, played by Stallone, who is an American Mafia caporegime. After being released from prison in New York, he is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the show focuses on how he creates his own criminal organization.

The show has been a critical and commercial success and many viewers of the show have been enthralled by Stallone’s stellar performance as the series is the actor’s first leading role in a scripted TV series.

The show has many important characters and character arcs and one of them is Tina Manfredi, who is the daughter of Dwight.

Played by Tatiana Zapperdino, Tina Manfredi-Grieger is a Brooklyn-based florist and is the estranged daughter of Dwight. She has a recurring role in season 1 of Tulsa King and a more prominent role in season 2 of the show.

One of the major themes of the show is the evolving relationship between Tina and her father, Dwight. As actress Tatiana shared with Pop Culture Unplugged in an interview, “There’s a lot less animosity this season (2). In season 1, there was a lot of resentment from Tina because her father had left her. This season, it’s more about them getting to know each other.”

While the father and daughter have begun sharing a more playful and cordial relationship, there are still some reasons why I believe that Tina should not have forgiven her father for his faults so early.

Why Tina should not have forgiven her father Dwight, so early in Tulsa King

One of the most important reasons behind this stand is the fact that even though Tina wanted a relationship with her father Dwight, and even visited him in jail, Dwight was emotionally closed off from Tina. Unfortunately, Tina was also raped by one of Dwight’s friends and Dwight still did not make an effort to form a bond with her daughter after that traumatic event.

The bond between the father and daughter had severed so much that for almost 18 years, Dwight and Tina had not talked to each other. Interestingly, Dwight was so far removed from reality that he even wanted respect from Tina when he came out of the prison, even though the both of them have never talked to each other and Dwight did not offer support during Tina’s traumatic moment of assault.

Therefore, for these reasons, Tina should not have forgiven her father Dwight, so easily on the series.

The show is available on Paramount+.
