Top Chef: Destination Canada, with amazingly creative chefs, has become one of the fan favorite seasons of the show. With the judges' constructive criticism and positive remarks paired with exciting challenges, the latest season of the Bravo show has undoubtedly raised the culinary competition bar relatively high.
Additionally, having Kristen Kish as the show host has also been an absolute enjoyment for the cheftestants as well as viewers. Kristen's continuous support and kind behavior for the participating chefs, paired with her positive attitude and calm demeanor, truly make Top Chef Season 22 my absolute favorite.
One of the participating chefs, Lana Lagomarsini, mentioned how Kristen had unknowingly been a huge part of her culinary journey. Years ago, when Lana had the opportunity to work at Kristen's restaurant, she was unfortunately fired because she lacked specific skills.
However, rather than focusing on what she lacked, Kristen told her how she needed the experience and that she should continue cooking. That moment has stayed with Lana and has continued to inspire her forward in her career, thanks to Kristen's words from all those years ago.
Top Chef Season 22: Kristen Kish - A truly supportive and enthusiastic host
While participating chefs and the judges are the most basic and essential parts of the culinary competition, having an inspiring host is also as important. Witnessing Kristen Kish hosting Bravo's Top Chef Season 22 has been an absolute pleasure.
Since she joined the show, she has been offering guidance and support to the cheftestants. As fans already know, she has also been a contestant and over the years, with her skills and experience, has emerged as such an incredible personality and a great host.
Lana Lagomarsini, a participating chef on Top Chef, was eliminated last week during episode 11.
While on the show, Lana reflected on how years ago, Kristen's inspiring words kept Lana going.
"Before I went to culinary school, I was lucky enough to stage at Kristen's (Kish) restaurant, and she gave me a lot of really encouraging words," recalled Lana
At the time, Lana was still figuring out whether she wanted to step into the culinary world. As she recalled, she was "laughably" out of her depth. She also recalled how Kristen Kish fired her, but that was something that she has remembered, in a positive way, ever since.
"But you called me back for a second day, I think just because I had a great attitude. And then on the second day, you were like, Okay, so you're like, not going to get the job. But, you were like, Okay, it's just because you need experience, but you should keep going, And I was like, Okay."
As she was recalling the incident, Kristen apologized to her. Lana mentioned that it was a "very instrumental" moment for her, and that Kristen had "really helped." For Lana, it was Kristen who encouraged her to pursue cooking, and here she is now.
Having such a host, who, even without knowing, supports chefs towards making better choices, is truly a game-changer. Currently, Kristen, as the host of Top Chef, has always been supportive of the cheftestants. Along with the judges, Kristen Kish is also a significant contributor to the show's nurturing atmosphere.
Fans must know how culinary competitions create tension among the participants and the challenges they face. But Kristen, as the host, has shown empathy and encouragement, which have positively shifted the atmosphere in the competition.
Top Chef Season 22 is now heading towards its finale with the Top 4 cheftestants. The Bravo show's finale will be divided into two parts, airing on June 5 and June 12, 2025.
