I am definitely not going to like Foundation Season 3 if it does not include this one story-line

Foundation has never played it safe, and that's exactly why it works. With its sweeping timelines, heavy philosophies, and sci-fi scale, it offers something bold. But there's one storyline that quietly stole the show last season, and it deserves far more space in the upcoming season.

If season 3 sidelines Demerzel's arc, then something crucial will be lost. She's not just a supporting piece of the puzzle. She's the thread holding the entire picture together.

Demerzel’s story was Foundation at its best

Last season, Foundation hit a new creative high with Demerzel's backstory. For a show driven by science, power, and math, her emotional weight and complicated loyalty gave it a soul. We saw that she wasn't just working beside the Cleons. She was the force guiding them all along.

Underneath her calm was a past where she was imprisoned, manipulated, and broken down piece by piece. She saw wars, saw empires rise and fall, and still held it all together.

The show may be about psychohistory and galactic collapse, but Demerzel showed that real control does not simply come from prophecy; it comes from being ever-present at the same time.

Even though her scenes were limited, the impact was undeniable. She wasn't only part of the empire's structure; she was the structure. Her decisions included quiet manipulation, sabotage, and secret executions, which shaped the fate of rulers and empires alike.

Removing that layer from Season 3 would take the heart out of the show's most powerful twist: that the galaxy's most important figure isn't a ruler, prophet, or scientist. It's the prisoner who outlived them all.

Hiding her now could cost the show its edge

The trailer for Foundation season 3 barely shows Demerzel. While that could be a clever trick to avoid giving away spoilers, it also raises concerns. After all the buildup and emotional depth built around her last season, not centering her in the next phase would feel like a missed opportunity.

Foundation has a lot going on, like newer threats, timelines, and the rising presence of The Mule. However, pushing Demerzel to the side would unravel the momentum that season 2 worked so hard to create.

We now know she's the reason every Cleon exists and the one who enforces the plan left by Cleon I. She's been the quiet architect of the empire's rise and possibly its fall.

Without her, Foundation loses the link between its robotic past and its predicted future. We've only just scratched the surface of what seems to be her past, her pain, and the strange connection between her, Hari Seldon, and the Prime Radiant.

Ignoring that now for the third installment would rob the show of what makes it truly unique.

If Foundation really wants to deliver in season 3, it cannot afford to push Demerzel into the shadows. She’s the secret engine of everything, and without her, the story loses its complexity.

The future of the galaxy might depend on the Prime Radiant, but the heart of the show, especially after Season 2, still beats with Demerzel.
