Netflix's romantic western drama Ransom Canyon had a promising debut, even being compared to Paramount+'s series Yellowstone.
Based on Jodi Thomas' series of books of the same name, the show follows three ranching family dynasties locked in a battle for control of their land.
Ransom Canyon Season 2 was renewed in June 2025, setting up for an exciting future for Netflix's Western series.

1) Love or career: What will Lucas choose in Ransom Canyon Season 2?
Unlike many of the complicated ships in the Netflix show, Lucas and Lauren ended up together in Season 1. While the couple had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the show, their future looked bright until Lauren injured her shoulder, jeopardizing her future at the University of Texas at Austin.
While Lauren's academic career looked bleak, Lucas already has offers from many prestigious colleges, suggesting that he certainly has a bright future at one of the leading Ivy League colleges.
Considering he has worked hard to achieve his goals, Lucas would want to move to the East Coast for better opportunities, but that would mean separation for the couple. Season 2 should definitely invest in Lucas and Lauren's relationship and show what is in store for their futures.
2) Was Yancy cheating on Ellie the whole time?
Ransom Canyon dropped the biggest bombshell on Ellie when an unknown woman dropped by Gracie's and claimed to be Yancy's wife, who is now Ellie's fiancée.
While we know that Yancy has had a shady and complicated past, his love and marriage proposal to Ellie seemed sincere, which makes this reveal even shocking. Ellie was already making arrangements for her wedding with Yancy, even holding her wedding dress in her hands, when Yancy's wife appeared in the finale.
Season 2 should definitely address Yancy's past and reveal who this mysterious woman is.
3) Where is Staten and Quinn's relationship headed in Ransom Canyon Season 2?
Out of all the things for Season 2, I would surely be mad if the show did not address Staten and Quinn's relationship in the upcoming chapter. After breaking up with Davis and hooking up with Staten during a tornado, Quinn made things official for the couple.
However, the couple soon had another fight after Quinn revealed her piano gig in New York to pay off Gracie’s loan, which naturally did not sit right with Staten. To make things worse, he had a big fight with Davis and left his lavender bracelet at the bar, leaving the couple's future uncertain.
4) What is in store for Sheriff Brigman in Ransom Canyon Season 2?
Out of all the characters, Sheriff Brigman certainly stood out to me, and Season 2 should invest in his storyline. The man went through hell in Season 1, first with his wife's affair and then discovering that she was responsible for the fatal car accident that took his friend's family's lives.
With Margaret out of the picture and his daughter off to college, it's high time the show introduces a potential love interest for Brigman in the next chapter.
5) Will Yancy and Staten team up against Davis and Sam in Ransom Canyon Season 2?
While Davis and Staten were about to team up against Austin Water and Power, that plan went up in the air after the two men entered a bloody fight for Quinn. The finale suggested that Davis will likely team up with Sam, which leaves Staten alone.
Elsewhere, Yancy inherited the Fuller Ranch, and his rivalry with Austin Water and Plant could result in a potential partnership with Staten. Since Yancy needs guidance and Staten needs someone to go up against Davis and Sam, this partnership might be in the cards in Season 2.
