Stranger Things Season 5's Sadie Sink recently talked about her emotional coma scene, shown in the beginning of Episode 7, titled The Bridge.

After being trapped in Vecna's mind for so long, Max, a character played by Sadie Sink, wakes up in Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 2, after finding a hidden door in Henry Creel's memory and running through the red void. The episode starts with Lucas asking her to open her eyes, and Max finally says,

"Hello, Lucas."

In the scene, Mrs. Wheeler, Robin, and her partner Vickie look emotional. Max is crying, and Lucas asks if she is hurt. Max says that she can't feel anything and the lights are too bright for her.

The scene left viewers happy with the return of Max in the real world, where her friends are waiting for her, appreciating the performances given by Sadie Sink and Caleb McLaughlin, who carried her everywhere to protect her from demogorgons.

Speaking of the scene, Sadie Sink told Tudum:

"When a scene is so beautifully written and a moment is as touching as that is, it makes my job easier to connect with Max. And when Caleb is giving such an incredible performance as well, I just felt very lucky to be in that room."

After Max is trapped in Vecna's mind, Lucas stays by her side playing the song Running Up That Hill in the hope that it will help her wake up. While Sink's first attempt fails, as shown in Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1, she again finds herself in the same red void for the third time, thanks to Holly, who helps her find the path through Vecna's memory.

This time, she escapes Vecna's mind and returns to the real world through the cloud opening, where Lucas is seen holding her in his lap, hiding her from the demogorgons. Sadie Sink, when talking to Tudum, spoke about their bond, saying:

"I think that’s saving her, ultimately, knowing that he’s not giving up on me. He knows I’m still in there."

Along with Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin also talked about the emotional scene to Tudum, saying:

"Right before the scene, I remember Shawn calling action, and then the energy switched and changed, and then I looked into Sadie's eyes."

He added:

"When we finished the scene, everyone was quiet. The crew was quiet. Then Maya and Amy started crying. Then Sadie started crying. Then I started crying. Everyone just felt the presence of what we brought to the table."

Along with Caleb and Sadie, Maya Hawke, who played the character of Robin, told Tudum:

"Every now and then as an actor, a spell is cast in the room. And that day, the spell was cast. and I went home feeling so inspired."

Before Max left the red void in Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 and returned to the real world, she also gave strength and a pep talk to Holly, helping her find her own cloud opening that leads Holly to the place where her physical body is trapped.
