Developed by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, Ghosts, is a sitcom adapted from the British series of the same name. Featuring Utkarsh Ambudkar, Rose McIver, and others, the show has four seasons till now and premiered on CBS on October 7, 2021.
The show is about a New York-based couple, Samantha “Sam” and Jay, who inherit a country house called Woodstone Manor, from Sam’s great aunt, Sophie Brimble. However, their life turns upside down when the house keeps falling apart and is inhabited by ghosts.
These entities belong from different eras of American history who died on the property and now haunt the manor. While Jay cannot see or hear them, Sam can because she has a near-death experience.
Apart from the couple, the show has various characters and one of those is Henrietta “Hetty” Woodstone, which is played by Rebecca Wisocky. In an interview with Screen Rant, the actress spoke about her character’s surprise death reveal in Season 3 of the series.
Rebecca Wisocky about her character’s death reveal in Ghosts

While Season 4 of the show has ended this year and has been a decent entry, perhaps one of the most surprising twists in the show came in the third season of the show where it is revealed that Hetty killed herself using a telephone cord. In an interview with Screen Rant, Wisocky, who plays the character of Hetty, emotionally reflects upon the surprise death reveal of her character and how it affected her performance.
During the San Diego Comic Con 2025 media suit, Wisocky recalls how she came to know about Hetty’s death a month before filming and therefore, she did not know about her character’s sui*ide when she played the part all this time. She states,
“I did not know. I knew about a month, month and a half before we started filming it. And the showrunners and the writer, Sophia Lear, were very kind to involve me in conversations about what I might be able to add, in terms of behavior and what I thought about it dramaturgically.”
Wisocky stated in the interview that because she was involved in the conversations about her character’s backstory, she could better prepare her performance and add her own elements of behavior. Further, the actress also praised her co-stars and how Hetty’s character had been challenging for her as an actor.
