HBO's latest comedy series, I Love LA, starring its creator Rachel Sennott, follows a group of friends as they navigate the ups and downs of their lives together.

The series also features Odessa A'zion, Jordan Firstman, Josh Hutcherson, True Whitaker, among others.

It begins with Maia Simsbury, a 27-year-old woman who has just one goal: to become a talent manager. However, things take a turn when her college friend Tallulah Stiel, an influencer, moves in with her. What follows next is utter chaos. Tallualah gets accused of stealing a luxury bag by Paulena, a fellow influencer.

Maia tries to solve the situation, but Paulena posts a video of the two friends mocking her. Obviously, this isn't a good thing for their reputation, and their career goes for a toss.

The previous episodes have been a rollercoaster ride for both Maia and Tallulah. In Episode 3, they finally got leverage on Paulena and her shady background. It was indeed a jackpot moment for them. It ended with Tallulah getting a DM from Balenciaga asking for her location.

Episode 4 of I Love LA, titled Upstairses plunges Tallulah, Maia, Alani, and Charlie into an influencer-packed afternoon hosted by Quen Blackwell, another popular influencer. What follows is a fast and funny episode that gives us a hilarious sneak peek into the daytime parties of influencers.

Here's a complete breakdown of the episode.

I Love LA Episode 4 recap: Tallulah meets Quen Blackwell

The episode begins with Tallulah unboxing a Balenciaga bag as they get ready for Quen's party. Maia reveals that Quen posted a video in that bag and literally fangirls over her. Charlie remains unbothered throughout, but Maia sees this as a golden opportunity. Tallulah feels that she could easily gel up with Quen and calls her "my kind of people." Although we could sense a jealous Maia (we get it, Maia, we get it.) The party's at Elijah Wood's house, and Alani's way too excited for it.

But soon we realize that Quen invites Tallulah not for fun but as a strategy. The moment they interact, the tone shifts. She asks Tallulah what she wants. What she's working toward. Whether Maia has actually helped her career. It is less of a conversation and more like an interview.

Tallulah struggles to answer. She enjoys being noticed, but she has never defined a bigger goal. Adessa plays her confusion beautifully. There is no dramatic speech, just a quiet collapse of confidence.

Quen then pulls Tallulah into a full content factory. Nothing is spontaneous. Everything is staged. There are lights, setups, costume swaps, and dozens of takes. Tallulah freezes. She loves the perks of fame, not the grind that keeps the machine running. Rows of buzzing phones remind her that the internet never sleeps. If you stop, you will disappear. Queen casually says it. Tallulah hears it like a warning bell.

While Tallulah spirals, Maia and Alani begin their own adventure. Maia is wounded after Quen brushes her aside. Alani is determined to meet Elijah Wood. When they see the Please Stay Downstairs sign, Alani ignores it. Maia follows because resistance is useless around her.

Upstairs, they find Woods alone, calm, and watching The Simpsons. He is gentle, odd, and full of small quirks. He loves cartoons and bathrobes, and he hates being sexualized. It's a playful cameo, even if the character feels overstuffed with funny details.

Their visit quickly becomes awkward. Wood spirals into a mild panic, and the woman decides it's time to run. They collide with a shaken Tallulah, and the trio then meets Charlie, who cracks a joke. In the end, they leave the party together.

I Love LA Episode 4 recap: Charlie's side trip and what it means

Charlie meets Lukas, a sweet but confusing man, at the party. They take a long drive to get ice for the party. Charlie is irritated until he learns Lukas has millions of TikTok followers and has a big career move planned. The tone shifts again. Charlie sees a possible path forward for himself or for a friend.

Episode 4 of I Love LA pushes each character into uncomfortable spaces, and it seems that the chaos has just begun.
