While everyone raves about Brad Pitt's cameo appearance on Friends, I think The Big Bang Theory was iconic for its many Star Trek actor cameos.

For a sitcom centred around geek culture, the cameos were not even surprising and fit right into the show's narrative. While the show had many cool star guests throughout the seasons, nothing can beat the Star Trek cameos.

They were not only fun, but seeing Sheldon and the gang's reaction upon meeting them was hilarious. Being the ultimate geeks, the gang were uncertified Trekkies, who even had special games centred around the show.

From Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock to many Star Trek action figures, The Big Bang Theory even had the best references.

The sitcom had many cameos, ranging from Leonard Nimoy to LeVar Burton to William Shatner and Wil Wheaton, who even became a recurring character.

More on this in our story.

The Big Bang Theory had a D&D game night with Star Trek stars William Shatner and Wil Wheaton

While most shows have cameos, Star Trek star Wil Wheaton became a recurring character in The Big Bang Theory, appearing in 17 episodes. I was surprised that Sheldon had marked Wheaton as his mortal enemy because he failed to show up at the '95 Dixie Trek Convention in Jackson, Mississippi. Only Sheldon can make Wesley Crusher his enemy.

While Wheaton remained Sheldon's mortal enemy in The Big Bang Theory for the initial seasons, the two make up after he gifts him a signed, mint-condition Wesley Crusher action figure in Season 5.

Wheaton even became the group's close friend in the latter seasons. How iconic to be friends with Star Trek's Wesley Crusher.

Sheldon and the gang's amicability with Wheaton finally pays off in The Big Bang Theory's final season when they finally meet William Shatner. While I eagerly waited for cameos on the sitcom, I was waiting for Captain Kirk to show up and the sitcom finally included him in the final season.

Sheldon naturally lost his calm after seeing the Captain himself and even barfed on him. Shatner's cameo did not end here, as the group learned that Wheaton hosts exclusive Dungeons & Dragons game nights at his house with celebrities.

While Sheldon and the gang could not attend it, the girls got entry and played D&D with Captain Kirk and Wesley Crusher, with Shatner even giving us an iconic Star Trek line:

''I was about to go all Wrath of Khan on the ogres.''

While Wheaton and Shatner's cameos are easily my favorite of the list, The Big Bang Theory had other Star Trek actor cameos too.

Another iconic voice cameo was by Leonard Nimoy aka Spock. We all know Sheldon's undying admiration for the half-Vulcan Spock from Star Trek, and he even had his small action figure by his desk.

In Season 5, when Penny gifts Sheldon and Leonard transporters, Nimoy voices the Spock action figure in Sheldon's dream sequence. It first encourages him to use it and later advises him to come clean to Leonard when he breaks the toy.

While Nimoy did not appear in the sitcom himself, his voice cameo, combined with the tiny Spock position changes, made it an iconic moment.

Another hilarious cameo was by Brian George, who played Julian Bashir's father in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Banking on his fatherly presence, he appeared in a handful of episodes of The Big Bang Theory as Raj's father, mostly via video call.

TBBT used dream sequences with their full potential, as Star Trek: TOS and the movies' fame, George Takei, also appeared in one of Howard's fever dreams. Takei played the legendary Mr. Hikaru Sulu, Captain Kirk's starship's helmsman.

Star Trek: The Next Generation's LeVar Burton, who played Georgi La Forge, also appeared as himself in TBBT Season 4, 5, and 8. Another hilarious cameo, he even appeared on Sheldon and Amy's show, Fun with Flags.

The Big Bang Theory not only made science look cool and fascinating, but it also had the best cameo appearances, which are still iconic.
