I'm convinced that Marvel's The Punisher special will see this villain from Daredevil: Born Again play a major antagonist

Daredevil: Born Again season 1 ended with escalating tensions between Matt Murdock, the vigilante, and Mayor Wilson Fisk, while Bullseye tries to assassinate Fisk, breaking out from the prison cunningly. Matt intervenes to stop the assassination and gets severely wounded. This leaves Bullseye with unfulfilled notions, and sets up a foundation for the upcoming season and another spin-off that was confirmed in early 2025.

In February 2025, Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle aka The Punisher, confirmed the release of a Marvel special representation spin-off. Guess who is going to be the antagonist in Marvel's The Punisher special? I think it is going to be Wilson Fisk's most trusted man, Cole North. Read on to know how.

The untitled series is set to drop in 2026 alongside season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, on Disney Plus, as announced by Marvel Studios. So far, the show has posed Cole North as a loyal cop who goes by the book. His life gets intertwined with Wilson Fisk's, who becomes the mayor of the city. He fights against the vigilantes, believing that their method often challenges the law.

He becomes one of the best men of Wilson Fisk, who is also praised publicly. Eventually, he becomes the face of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) set up by Fisk to fight against vigilantes. However, in the comics, he is shown as frustrated by the corruption initially and becomes loyal to Fisk only to realise the loopholes in the legal system later. This changes his perspective on the vigilantes.

Cole has the potential to become a major antagonist in the coming spin-off because of his proximity to Fisk despite the difference in their ideologies. This creates a mystery for his character, raising questions about whose side he can lean on in future. He can often have confrontational interactions with Punisher, who represents everything North stands against: lawlessness, brutality, and no accountability.

North Cole from Daredevil: Born Again might be the one who killed White Tiger

Fisk is using him to gain larger control over the city. It is also being speculated that he could be the one who killed Hector Ayala aka the White Tiger, and misused The Punisher's logo as a part of the law enforcement department. He is shown as a trusted man of Wilson Fisk. Therefore, it makes sense for him to kill Hector after Wilson demands the same.

All these possibilities suggest that he could be one of the major antagonists in the upcoming spin-off. As usual, Fisk might assign him the task of killing The Punisher. However, his changing mentality and ideological difference with Fisk might create problems for Fisk; he might be after Fisk himself.

On the other hand, if he becomes the one who tracks down The Punisher, it would be interesting to see The Punisher reclaiming his skull pendant and reimagine his identity, something he has been striving for long in Daredevil: Born Again.
