I'm convinced player 226 will suffer a fatal outcome in the fourth game of Squid Game Season 3

The official trailer for Squid Game Season 3 was finally released on May 31, 2025, during the Netflix Tudum event in Los Angeles. The trailer revealed that the final season might be the most brutal one so far, and will introduce more new games that will be more terrifying, making it more difficult for players to survive.

With new games and flashback scenes, and Gi-hun’s return in the Squid Game, I’ve noticed another player's fate in the trailer. There’s a clip of player 226, Kim Yeong-sam, the man who, like player 100, wanted to continue playing the game, being knocked by player 120, Cho Hyun-ju, played by Park Sung-hoon, during the 4th game. Hyun-ju’s bloody appearance also indicates that he might have killed player 226 during the 'Knife and Key' game in Squid Game Season 3.

Player 226 might meet his end during the 4th game in Squid Game Season 3

Kim Yeong-sam, or player 226, played by Lee Sung-woo, was introduced in Season 2 of the Netflix series. From the beginning, he was seen pairing with player 100, Im Jeong-de, and was seen as the second antagonist of the season, who, just like Jeong-de, had a huge debt to repay.

To pay his debt, he wants to win the game, and even after Gi-hun’s pleas not to play the game, he and Player 100 often tried to convince other players to play the game and not listen to Gi-hun. In Season 2, he was often seen arguing with Park Jung-bae as he came to Gi-hun’s defense when he revealed that he was the winner of the previous squid game.

Furthermore, he was among the attackers during the special game and attacked the players who wanted to opt out of the game, killing several of them. However, the beginning of Squid Game Season 3 might be the end of his cruelty toward the other players, as he might die during the 4th game.

In the official trailer of Squid Game Season 3, we can see that Sung-hoon’s Hyun-ju (player 120) is part of the blue team in the next game, and player 226 is in the red team. In one frame, Hyun-ju is seen hiding, and next she is seen knocking player 226 to the ground, indicating that Hyun-ju has the upper hand in the attack and might end one of the antagonists of this squid game in the beginning of Season 3.

The fate of player 226 is further confirmed with Hyun-ju's appearance, as she appears to be soaked in blood. Therefore, she might have used his dagger on him to save the key and herself from dying in the 4th game.

While player 226 might be eliminated at the hands of Hyun-ju, it is still not confirmed if there will be more than one survivor in Squid Game Season 3, or just like before, Gi-hun will again be the sole survivor of the brutal game.
