Who will take over the church among the siblings? This is a major question The Righteous Gemstones poses to the viewers. However, season 4 subtly hints at the possible answer. It could be Gideon Gemstone, the son of Jesse and Amber Gemstone, who could take over the church eventually from Eli. Though he is young, his sensibility, humility, and awareness of right and wrong are what make him a good leader.

In season 4, Eli Gemstone, the family patriarch, also suggests his trust in Gideon to bear the responsibility of the church. Gideon's character takes a turn from being highly reluctant to leadership to being willing to fix it for the world's sake.

Season 4 of The Righteous Gemstones hints at the true heir of the church

The Righteous Gemstones showcases a wealthy family that runs a corrupt empire and scandals under the guise of managing a church, posing themselves as god's servant. Amidst the siblings' race to prove themselves better than the other and take over the church ownership, Gideon Gemstone's character emerges as a new light of hope.

In the initial seasons, Gideon is portrayed as the rebellious child of the family who dissociates himself from the greedy family. He was seen as a black sheep as he once robbed his own family as an act of rebellion against their corrupt and phony empire. As the season progresses, he rescues his siblings during a dangerous situation and earns Jesse's respect and pride. This becomes the point when the family notices his potential.

Season 4 of The Righteous Gemstones subtly hints at the possibility of him being the right one to lead the church. Eli also acknowledges his potential when Gideon showcases his interest in preaching. Therefore, the patriarch is finally now thinking of passing on the torch to his grandson, who, by season 3, becomes close to him.

Gideon, in the show, is emerging as a different and more aware character, while his character is also changing from being a radical one to coming to terms with fixing things for the better.

Gideon Gemstone from The Righteous Gemstones might be a character inspired by the Bible

Gideon's name has a rich connection with a character from the Bible itself. In the Bible, Gideon is shown as a humble and hesitant leader who is called by God to liberate Israel from the Midianites. He bears the responsibility to free Israel not through force but through faith. He led 300 men, and eventually, the people of Israel begged him to be their king. He refused by saying that no one should rule but only God.

Gideon Gemstone's character in the show seems like a reflection of the same. When Gideon began to look for mentorship to become a pastor, Eli realised that he could be a better leader than Jesse, Judy, or Kelvin, despite his young age in The Righteous Gemstones.
