Heidi Klum, the longtime host of Project Runway, has revealed that she and her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, are undertaking a new health regimen, a cleanse aimed at eliminating worms and parasites from their bodies. In an interview published by The Wall Street Journal on August 4, Klum, 52, detailed the couple's decision to try the cleanse for the first time, citing growing interest online as part of their motivation.

“I’m going to deworm and de-parasite for the first time,”

Klum told The Wall Street Journal, adding context to the decision.

“Everything I’m getting on my Instagram feed at the moment is about worms and parasites. So I’m doing a worm cleanse and parasite cleanse with my husband.”

The Project Runway host explained that the decision came after she learned about the importance of regular cleansing.

“I heard that you’re supposed to do this once a year, and I’ve never done it. So I feel like I’m really behind. I don’t know what the heck is going to come out,”

Klum said during the August 4 interview. According to her, the cleanse is not based on speculation but on common practices around dietary habits.

“Apparently, we all have parasites and worms,” Klum stated. “If you are someone who eats raw things every now and then, like, for example, sushi.”

Klum explained that the regimen relies on herbal components, including pills and ingredients like clove and papaya seeds, which are said to repel parasites. She noted it isn’t a quick fix. She’s starting the cleanse now and warned that it must be continued for months as part of a longer process.

She first hinted at the cleanse in July, when she posted a video on Instagram on July 20. “It’s day 10 of the parasite cleanse,” she shared in the caption while preparing a drink that included papaya, watermelon, lime, berries, cucumber, and more. Of the drink itself, she commented, “and this is yucky.”

Where Heidi Klum stands today: Family, career, and Project Runway updates

In the same media cycle leading up to the Project Runway Season 20 premiere on July 31, Klum also opened up about her personal life and her experience raising four children. The Project Runway host shares sons Henry, 19, and Johan, 18, and daughter Lou, 15, with ex-husband Seal.

Her eldest daughter, Leni, 21, is from a previous relationship with Flavio Briatore and was later adopted by Seal. Klum revealed in a conversation with People Magazine that she embraced motherhood during the show's early seasons.

“I remember leaking breast milk on set and Michael Kors reminding me to ‘go pump,’”

She said, referencing the early filming days of Project Runway. Despite her public career, Klum shared that her home remains the center of her children’s lives.

“I love having a house where they feel safe,” she said. “My son was barbecuing with his friends in the backyard the other day and doing all the things I taught him. It was so cute. For me, it’s always the more, the merrier. I like it when they’re all at home.”

Klum acknowledged that her joint lingerie campaign with daughter Leni in 2023 sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning the appropriateness of their collaboration. She defended this by saying she’s proud of her daughter and that Leni was completely comfortable participating.

Reflecting on her perspective, Klum credited her European upbringing for shaping her comfort with body image. She explained that she’s always been open about her body, even going topless while sunbathing in her backyard, and believes that this openness has made her children more relaxed and body-positive as well. Klum also reflected on her concerns as a parent.

“When they’re young, you’re worried they’re going to jump in the pool or stick their finger in a socket,” she said. “Then they’re driving. Then it’s s*x, d**gs and rock and roll. You hope the seed you planted in them grows. That they’re good people. That they’re healthy. But you always worry. And I know I’ll still be worrying when I’m 80.”
