Reddit fans pour in their support for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch's latest teaser
It's a good day for passionate video game players as Netflix has finally released the first teaser for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, an anime adaptation of the popular 2002 video game. The short teaser clip is already making rounds on social media and will expand the field commander's world to a larger audience.
Pouring in their love and support for the series, u/ParadoxInRaindrops wrote:
''Liking the animation and the look of the action. Liev sounds good as Sam.''
''Honestly I'm just itching for anything Splinter Cell related. Year after year of nothing from Ubisoft, and it's been really quiet about the remake.'' u/CELTICPRED also seems excited about the new series
The Splinter Cell: Deathwatch teaser also introduces us to Liev Schreiber as the series' beloved protagonist, Sam Fisher, who is on a personal mission. Since Sam is a beloved video game character, fans are excited to see Liev Schreiber step into his shoes:
''Michael Ironside will always be Sam Fisher to me, but Liev Schreiber seems like an ok replacement for the voice. Sam Fisher needs to have a deep, gravelly tone with a dry sense of humor, which Schreiber can do.'' u/rnilf said
Some fans also hope that Splinter Cell: Deathwatch might revive the video game franchise, as one excited Reddit user wrote:
''I hope this ends with lots of hype and new SC game in production. I hate ubi for killing the series. It was my favourite one (best to Hitman).''
With video game adaptations like Peacock's Twisted Metal and HBO Max's The Last of Us, receiving popularity and love nowadays, Netflix's new animated series could surely prove successful for the platform, as u/Westeros rightly observed:
''Netflix found a niche that is just working for them - can capture so many video games with this approach.''
''Yep. Castlevania proved that people would be invested in lore-accurate, high action stories. This is great for Netflix as they have needed more famous IP with built in fanbases.'' another Reddit user agreed
What is Splinter Cell: Deathwatch about?

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is set after the events of 2005 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and begins with the funeral of Douglas Shetland, a martyred comrade of Fisher. The animated series will feature a much older Sam Fischer as he is pulled back into the black-ops operation to help one of the wounded young soldiers, Zinnia McKenna.
The teaser highlights how this particular mission is personal for Fisher, suggesting a more mature and intense tone for the show. Deathwatch will follow Sam Fisher as he seeks revenge for Douglas' death, while protecting Zinnia, who is being pursued by a squad of trained officers.
The additional voice cast for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch includes Janet Varney as Anna, Joel Oulette as Thunder, and Kirby as Zinnia.
Catch the series premiere on Netflix on October 14, 2025.
