Love Island USA Season 6 winners Serena Page and Kordell Beckham captured hearts as the ultimate power couple. Now fans can follow their journey beyond the villa through Peacock’s new spin-off series, Love Island: Beyond the Villa. However, the couple won’t be appearing together as full-time cast members. Page revealed that Beckham will only make guest appearances while she takes on a main role.
The change happened after Beckham secured other acting opportunities, including work with Keke Palmer’s KeyTV network.
"At [first] he was going to do it with me. I had fully confirmed, signed the contracts, and everything, and then he got booked. I was very proud of him, but I was sad and it made me very anxious about filming because I was like, 'Damn, I'm going to be alone,'" Page explained during a Teen Vogue interview.
The spin-off follows former islanders as they navigate relationships and careers after leaving the villa. Beyond the Villa premieres Sunday, July 13, featuring several Season 6 fan favorites, including Page’s close friends Leah Kateb and JaNa Craig.
Serena Page explains why Kordell will only be joining as a guest cast member on Love Island: Beyond the Villa
Beckham’s absence from the main cast stems from his growing acting career. Page explained that her boyfriend prioritized his acting career, something they’d discussed since their very first meeting.
Though happy for him, Page admitted she was anxious about filming without him, especially while navigating their growing relationship from different states.
"There were a lot of times where I was like, 'Damn, I don't know. We're supposed to be navigating our relationship, but you're about to be in a whole different state. What am I going to do?'" she shared.
Filming without Beckham was difficult, but Page found comfort in the close friendships she had with fellow islanders. Leah Kateb and JaNa Craig joined the spin-off as main cast members, providing emotional support during filming.
However, Page noted a key difference in their situations. Both Kateb and Craig had their romantic partners participating as full-time cast members. This left Page as the only main cast member without her significant other present throughout production.
The PPG trio made their participation decision together. Page revealed they agreed to join the show as a group or not at all. Their united front helped ease her concerns about filming without Beckham.
Though not a main cast member, Beckham maintained his presence throughout the series. Page emphasized his commitment to supporting her despite his limited official involvement.
"He was like, 'I will be there for you whenever you need me,'" she explained.
Elaborating:
"Any crumb of a chance I can get, I'm going to be on that screen with you."
Viewers can expect more Beckham appearances than initially planned. Page confirmed that only a handful of scenes were filmed without him. The show will feature behind-the-scenes moments of the couple working together, dates, and his visit to Miami during production.
What lies ahead on Love Island: Beyond the Villa?
The spin-off represents a new chapter for the Love Island USA family. Beyond the Villa brings back popular Season 6 contestants, including Miguel Harichi, Kenny Rodriguez, Liv Walker, Kaylor Martin, Aaron Evans, Connor Newsum, and Kendall Washington.
By participating solo, Page balanced her professional growth with maintaining her relationship off-screen. The experience tests their bond while allowing fans to see their continued growth as a couple navigating life after reality television.
Love Island USA Season 7 airs daily (except Wednesdays) at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
