Dexter: Resurrection has pulled us deeper into the mind of our favorite vigilante serial killer with every episode. This season has been all about new faces, darker turns, and moral dilemmas. One of the biggest shocks came in the form of Mia, played by Krysten Ritter. She was a woman Dexter thought might be his perfect match in murder. Mia seemed like she could be a mirror of Dexter.

She seemed to be someone living by a code and sparing the innocent. But that illusion shattered fast when Dexter learned she had no problem killing people who hadn’t done anything wrong. That revelation changed everything for him in Dexter: Resurrection. The rules he’s lived by for years said he should take her out. But instead of crossing her name off his list the bloody way, Dexter handed her over to the police. Not only that, but he went as far as framing her for Ryan Foster’s murder in order to protect his son, Harrison.

But Mia’s fate was sealed long before justice could take its course. Before the cops could even get a word out of her, she was found hanging in her cell. And we know Leon Prater was behind it. Charley's prison visit and the appearance of that bribed guard during the scene makes it all very certain. And just like that, Mia’s run in Dexter: Resurrection was over.

So, here's Krysten Ritter opening up about how she felt stepping into this dangerous, complicated character, and what it was really like sharing the screen with Michael C. Hall.

Mia’s journey in Dexter: Resurrection is one of the most intriguing arcs we’ve seen in the show. She first killed when her mother’s boyfriend sexually abused her sister. She channeled her darkness toward sexual predators in the beginning. But over time, killing became more than just revenge. It became a craving. The rush blurred her moral code, and soon, even innocents weren’t safe from her impulses.

By the time we reached Dexter: Resurrection Episode 5, tellingly titled Murder H*rny, Mia’s bloodlust was impossible to contain. She even tried to rope Dexter into killing an innocent with her, but when he refused, she seduced a man and lured him to her apartment, only to be caught when Dexter called the cops.

Krysten Ritter, who brought Mia to life in Dexter: Resurrection, spoke with Deadline, and shared:

"Shooting Episode 5 was exciting because of that turn. When I’m sitting down to read all the scripts, it’s an exciting character twist and another color to play. And I just loved how deranged and psychotic she turns out to be. She starts off very cool and deliberate, and then when she and Dexter warm up, it’s kind of very sexy and electric. But it turns out that she’s a bad guy, and that’s not gonna go well."

Of course, one of the highlights for Ritter was working opposite Michael C. Hall. She shared:

"Before Dexter, Michael and I hadn’t met before. Our first day was during the Central Park running scene, and it was very cold. I had a big dialogue scene, and I was prepared. I showed up and said, “I’m here. Let’s have some fun!” We just hit it off immediately and really connected. We had a natural rapport. But you never know, that’s just catching a little magic. We were lucky that we worked together so well, and I was really excited to work with someone like him."

She also loved how naturally they paired on screen in Dexter: Resurrection.

"When he was with me, we were very much on the same level. We were very like, connected, and playful with one another. But there were definitely some moments where I was like, “Wait, he’s so natural.” You know? I was like, “Is he in character right now? Is this Dexter or Michael C. Hall?” Sometimes you don’t know, because he’s so natural. If you caught him rehearsing one of his lines, he would keep people wondering if he was talking to them. [Laughs] Watching him work, and watching what he would do and why, then when it got to his closeup, he would sink in even deeper. I had a front row seat to his process, and it was awesome."

And even though Mia’s journey ended abruptly, Ritter is still invested in the story. She says:

"As a fan of the show, I want to be able to watch it. I mean, I know what happens because you’re on set and you hear whispers. Now that I’m done, I have an opportunity to watch every Friday when new episodes come out, just like you guys do. I’ve been doing that every week now. And, you know what? At this point in my career, I don’t always watch everything that I’m in. I mostly do the work, keep my head down, and move on. But for this, I was salivating to watch this. I loved playing this character so much. What a choice role."

Mia may be gone from Dexter: Resurrection, but Krysten Ritter’s performance will linger in fans’ memories for a long time.
