I think it’s time Love Island USA's Huda started owning up to her actions

Huda Mustafa has been at the center of Love Island USA season 7 since day one. After pairing up with Jeremiah Brown and barely escaping elimination not once but twice, she has had one of the more eventful runs in the villa. But I have begun to wonder, how much of the chaos around her is truly someone else’s doing?

There’s no denying that Huda has faced heartbreak on Love Island USA. Still, I believe she needs to take a closer look at how her own actions have contributed to the situation. Whether it’s her dynamic with Jeremiah or her more recent tension with other islanders, there’s a clear pattern. And in my view, it’s time she started taking accountability.

Huda’s intense start on Love Island USA set the tone

From the moment Huda entered the Love Island USA villa, she was quick to lock in with Jeremiah. Within days, the two were talking about serious matters, moving in together, even tracking each other’s locations. That pace was unusually fast, even by Love Island USA standards.

But as doubts began creeping in, Jeremiah started pulling back. When America voted to recouple him with Iris Kendall, Huda was left single and shaken. Her response was emotional, understandably so, but she also lashed out, questioning Jeremiah’s loyalty instead of reflecting on the collapse of their connection.

As a Love Island USA viewer, I initially assumed this would mark the end of Huda’s journey. Yet, somehow, she remained in the villa, saved not once, but twice, despite clear signs that things weren’t working.

The islanders kept her in twice, and it raised questions

After Jeremiah’s recoupling with Iris, Huda landed in the bottom group alongside Taylor and Charlie. Ace and Nic both voted to send her home, citing her earlier relationship as a roadblock for others to form connections. That seemed like a logical decision. But then Amaya cast the deciding vote, sending Charlie home instead.

What followed left me puzzled. Rather than taking the result as a wake-up call, Huda interpreted it as validation. She believed the public vote was a message that America supported her on Love Island USA.

Huda’s tension with Hannah suggests a repeated pattern

More recently, Huda made a move toward Pepe, creating visible tension with Hannah. It didn’t seem like she considered giving Hannah a heads-up. Though she later said it wasn’t meant to be disrespectful, the damage was done. What made it worse, in my view, is that Hannah has been one of Huda’s biggest supporters in the villa. For Huda to act without thinking of her feels like the worst kind of misstep in a friendship.

Huda later explained:

β€œI’m not tryna disrespect anything you guys have at all. Because you’re my girl.”

But the tension lingered. This shows how her decisions often come first, with the explanations arriving later, only after someone gets hurt.

To me, this isn't just about romantic connections. It’s about emotional awareness. Huda might not mean harm, but intent doesn’t erase impact.

It’s time for accountability, not excuses

There’s no denying that Huda has had a difficult time in the Love Island USA villa. But that doesn’t excuse everything. From her fast-paced relationship with Jeremiah to the situation with Hannah, I believe she’s shown a pattern of avoiding responsibility.

The islanders have continued to stand by her, perhaps out of loyalty, fear of backlash, or simply because they’ve seen more than we have. Still, this is Love Island USA; the goal is to form meaningful connections, not just survive eliminations.

I think if Huda wants a real shot at building something genuine, both in and out of the villa, the first step is reflection. Until then, we may keep seeing the same emotional cycles repeat, while the people around her bear the consequences.
