“I took it on as a challenge”: Bridgerton Season 4 actor reveals her mindset before doing intimate scenes on the show

Yerin Ha, who plays Sophie Baek in Bridgerton Season 4, said about how she overcame her nervousness to film her first intimate scenes since she saw it as a challenge for her career. She said:

"I’m of the mindset that without fear and discomfort that you have to push past, you won’t grow, so I took it on as a challenge for myself to grow as an actor as opposed to doing this for anyone else.”

Yerin Ha, who plays Sophie Baek in Bridgerton Season 4, recently pondered on recording her first initmate scenes. She acknowledged to being scared and overwhelmed throughout the early weeks of filming.

She said that despite being petrified she took it as a challenge. Her focus was on personal development and giving a real presentation, especially in strange environment.

Sophie Baek is introduced in Season 4 of the show as Benedict Bridgerton's (played by Luke Thompson) romantic interest. An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn will serve as the main inspiration for their love story.

The character's past has been changed in this version to better represent Ha's Korean ancestry. Reintroduced as an enigmatic character who seizes Benedict's interest at a masquerade event, Sophie Baek sets the stage for a romance that delves into issues of identity, social standing, and emotional bonding.

Ha's portrayal of Sophie Baek has already piqued viewers' curiosity, particularly as they anticipate how the series would adapt important scenes from the book. Among these is a much-discussed scene involving a lakeside meeting, which marks a turning point in the original plot.

While specifics regarding the season remain unknown, early interviews have verified that Ha was aware of the emotional weight these sequences hold and meticulously planned their delivery.

Yerin Ha established a strong acting career via formal training and a variety of roles prior to joining the Bridgerton ensemble. Ha, who was born to South Korean parents in Sydney, Australia, followed her dream of becoming an actress at an early age. After attending Seoul's Kaywon High School of Arts, she went on to Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in musical theater.

Ha's professional career started out in television and theater. Her performance in the Sydney Theatre Company's Lord of the Flies garnered her notoriety, and her portrayal of Kwan Ha in the Paramount+ series Halo helped her become even more well-known. Her other credits include HBO's Dune: Prophecy, the independent film Sissy, and Bad Behavior.
