I am totally convinced Stranger Things finale missed an intense element due to the demogorgons' absence

A still from Stranger Things.

It was quite a show, the finale of Stranger Things, where Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) tried to unleash hell and failed. With him was Mind Flayer, the giant spider-like creature who was always in sight, but I kept thinking of it as some kind of fortress, Vecna's hold, where he kept the kidnapped children. That's all.

However, there was one burning question that's now becoming a matter of memes on the internet. Where were the demogorgons and other creatures when he was fighting Eleven and the Hawkins crew made a good barbecue of the giant spider? Well, Duffer Brothers did give us an answer to that, telling The Wrap in an interview:

"Mainly it’s just that Vecna was not expecting this sneak attack on his home turf. Never in a million years could he even imagine that. They’re there somewhere. We obviously discussed having a demo battle on top of the Mind Flayer battle, but it felt more right to us that why does he need the demos when the Mind Flayer is this giant thing and can attack them? He doesn’t need his little ant army to attack, he’s going to take care of this himself."

Alright, I agree. That's one logical answer. But then I think that the battle of the Abyss in Stranger Things could have been more intense if this element had been included in it.

Will Byers taking on Vecna's ant army in Stranger Things would have been mental

I think that Stranger Things creators failed to use the full potential of the Sorcerer, that is Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), who learned to control his mental powers against Vecna and his demogorgon army in the season finale only. His breaking the vine-laden villain's arm was really a sight to see (and then Winona Ryder's Joyce chopping down his head, man), but it could have been better.

That means there would be three different fights going on in Stranger Things at the same time. The Hawkins crew vs. the Mind Flayer, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) vs. Vecna, and Will Byers vs. the demogorgons and crew. We have already seen Byers cracking the bones of those creatures, like Vecna, who claimed the lives of innocent teenagers.

And I really wanted Will to fight the creatures in the Stranger Things finale because when he took control of the demos, there weren't any bats and demodogs present. I wanted to see what his powers would do to the other creatures. Bats being ripped off their wings would be really mental.

More than that, I feel like it would have given a fair fight to Eleven. Will helping her simply cemented the fact that she wasn't able to take down her archenemy. So, in a way, we can now say that the antagonist was indeed stronger than her.

Imagining that sort of thing jogs my memory back to 2019's Avengers: Endgame. The Abyss could have been a similar battle, just on a smaller scale. Like Team Cap vs. Team Tony in Captain America: Civil War.
