Things are getting intense in AMC+'s The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 as Maggie and Ginny set out with the New Babylon group to Manhattan.
While Ginny has been a quiet character in Season 1, with her father's brutal death causing her trauma and eventual muteness, she is finally finding her voice back in Season 2.
The shocking revelation in the season 1 finale changed Ginny's relationship with Negan forever, and her latest action in episode 2 hints that she is setting out on a violent path to be reunited with her adoptive father.
With her intentions for traveling to Manhattan still not clear, The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 latest episode saw Ginny stealing Major Narvaez's gun, a turning point for her character.
More on Ginny's gun in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 in our story.
Ginny stole a gun in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 2
With Negan somewhat returning to his old leadership style and Maggie volunteering to join the New Babylon mission, stakes are high in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2.
While danger and challenges were doubled, season 2 saw a new side of Ginny. The orphaned girl has stayed mute for the majority of Season 1, but with her returning voice, she is proving to be an important character in the second chapter.
In The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 2, even after Maggie urged the New Babylon group to opt for a different strategy, they chose to go to Manhattan on a ferry. Since the Croat and Negan had already anticipated their move, they fired artillery on the boat after it hit a few mines, creating commotion and panic on board.
This commotion was enough for Ginny to channel her fierce side, and she used it to free Maggie and Hershel from imprisonment. As the group was trying to make sense of the confusion on board and escape from the Croat's attack, Ginny stole Major Narvaez's gun.
While Major realised the gun was missing, she could not trace it back to Ginny because of the commotion and confusion onboard.
Ginny's gun-stealing will likely have dire consequences in season 2
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 2 concluded with Ginny sneakily stealing Major's gun, but it sets up an interesting arc for the character in the upcoming episodes.
While Ginny shared a special relationship with Negan after he adopted her as a daughter, the Season 1 finale reveal changed their bond forever. Since Ginny was not ready to leave Negan and the island with Perlie, Negan revealed the bitter truth about her father. He revealed that he had murdered her father and adopted her because he felt guilty:
"You're just a debt I had to pay"
While many fans believe that Negan lied about killing Ginny's father to make her leave and protect her further, this might be true. But he did love Ginny like his daughter. The Season 1 revelation surely corrupted Ginny's mind, and she might be heading towards Negan with a gun.
If Ginny believed Negan in Season 1, the gun might be fatal for him in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 and she might use it to avenge her father's death.
In addition, the Season 2 teaser also shows Ginny pointing a gun at somebody's head. It could likely be Negan or any of the show's main villains, and Ginny might end up freeing and reuniting with her adoptive father.
While both possibilities are equally plausible, just like Chekhov's gun, Ginny's gun will surely have dire consequences in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2.
