Fans have spoken, and it’s not pretty: Bruno, the new addition to Wednesday Season 2, has become the show's most roasted character.

A fan even dropped the mic with:

“I wish Bruno didn’t exist and that Enid (...) left Ajax differently.”

And then, when the fandom starts quoting Encanto’s "We don’t talk about Bruno," but with venom, you know things have gone south.

So what went wrong? Why was Bruno labeled as "boring," "unnecessary," and "Disney Channel-level cringe"?

Below, let's swoop into his discourse.

As a Wednesday character, Bruno never clicked

On r/WednesdayTVSeries, a top-thread post summed up the mood: "Most boring unnecessary character ever." The sentiment snowballed from there, as fans pointed out that Bruno flopped and actively dragged down Enid’s arc.

One user argued that his only contribution was "leaving a stain on Enid’s character record." Another declared:

"You could delete him from the show and NOTHING would change."

The frustration is palpable, and for good reason.

Many thought Bruno would turn out to be some hidden villain. Instead, he ended up as...a cheater. That is right: Rather than driving the mystery, Bruno’s big reveal was being unfaithful. As one fan put it:

"A cheater? Wow."

For a show dripping in the gothic and supernatural, having a side character act like a typical high-school heartbreaker felt like a detour.

Fans wanted Enid and Ajax, not Enid and Bruno

A sore point was that Bruno came at the expense of Ajax (Enid’s sweet but sometimes sidelined love interest) from Season 1. On Wednesday, fans saw one of their favorite couples being brushed aside.

User C00kie_Monsters nailed the sentiment:

"It’s genuinely sad how few relationships from season one were still relevant in season two. If they want to have them break up, at least do it on screen."

Instead, viewers felt robbed of closure, as Bruno awkwardly wedged them apart.

Because this is Wednesday, fans naturally suspected a love triangle setup. But instead of a rivalry, they got, as one fan said:

"Such a wannabe playboy character was giving 2010 Disney vibes"

The cultural "token" backlash

Bruno’s introduction also included him speaking Tagalog, which some Filipino fans appreciated but others dismissed as a shallow representation.

As one commenter joked, he was basically a "token Filipino character." Another argued he should have at least been given more weight. Maybe he could even be reimagined as a Manananggal (a Filipino vampire-like creature). Instead, his brief moment of Tagalog felt more like bait than substance.

Fans argue that this representation doesn’t go beyond surface-level nods and often leaves us feeling more frustrated than seen.

Was Bruno secretly necessary?

Not everyone agreed that Bruno was a complete waste. A few argued he served a hidden purpose: Enid’s growth.

As user GreenBook1978 theorized, Bruno ended Enid’s fear of loneliness and the reality of being let down by someone she trusted:

"Part of coming-of-age stories is dealing with having the hope of escaping your worst fears crushed."

Others suggested his cheating only strengthened Enid’s bond with Wednesday. After all, when Wednesday (in Enid's body after their Freaky Friday swap) dumped him, it showed their friendship was more than Enid’s teen crush.

Still, for most of us, the execution didn’t justify the means.

Bruno, fans hardly knew (and barely liked) you. Even those who tried to soften the blow couldn’t avoid the truth: Bruno didn’t matter. As one snarky comment read:

"He (...) at least he looked good doing it."

That about sums him up: A handsome face, a wasted arc, and a fandom ready to erase him from canon. Maybe Season 3 could redeem him with a twist or a return. But for now, Bruno is the one Wednesday character fans wish they could write off.
