Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Chandler (the late Matthew Perry) from Friends- I guess the duo resonates even louder than Batman & Robin or Laurel & Hardy or Tom & Jerry. What I believe is that the pair is the perfect example of bromance, or I should rather add the word unconditional before it.
In my opinion, David Crane & Martha Kauffman's iconic sitcom characters have not only explored deep-rooted friendship between two young boys (and later men), but also manifested the phrase 'brother from another mother'. The duo portrays unconditional love even though their relationship arc has had its ups and downs over the years (which is quite normal).
From embarassing one another infront of their girlfriends to having each other's back in dire times of financial distress, the sweetness of Joey & Chandler's bromance has found new heights thereby making history with sitcom genre. I feel Friends serves the best version of how a sarcastic socially awkward yet intelligent person can easily blend with an absolutely polar opposite character - not to mention their closeness.
I have always found Friends' Joey-Chandler duo as the best example of bromance
I can remember multiple instances from the show when Joey and Chandler had their bromance moments - something even Ross would not understand. The two characters, I personally feel, are the closest to each other on the NBC sitcom and they have their own 'bro-code' language which often made the others (Monica, Ross, Rachel, Phoebe) feel funnily alienated.
From being silly 'Bracelet Buddies' to petting a chick and a duck together, their journey on Friends has been a roller coaster ride of emotions. They have a lot in common - their love for sports (both are Knicks fans), addiction to Baywatch, chilling on recliners for hours, and making fun of Monica's OCD, Ross' unnecessary whining, and Phoebe's weirdness. And I truly believe that this list can go on forever.
It is rather sweet how Chandler always pauses a few seconds after every joke is cracked (for Joey to understand it) and then says:
"There you go!"
It not only highlights Chandler's humorous side but also underlines his patience with his best buddy. He knows for fact that Joey is not so smart like the others but never gets angry about it - he rather jokingly laughs it off and accepts his friend as he is. But I think the final gem in the crown is the closing moment of Friends Season 7 finale where Monica & Chandler's wedding is officiated by priest Joey.
I believe Chandler could not have wanted a better moment than his brother/best friend getting him married to the love of his life. This is something which sets the bar quite high for any sitcom bromance and I still sometimes feel my eyes swell up with tears when I see Joey hugging Chandler - both bearing smiling faces.
The two have been there for each other during bad break-ups, career troubles, money problems, and even at the time of arguments with outsiders, and all of these without any conditions. The simplicity, the innocence, and the sweetness in their bromance arc make it perfect and not at all overdone.
