In the previous episode, Mitsuki found herself disturbed by strange alien signals, forcing her out of hiding. The WDC quickly moved against her, even sending an assassin to track her down. Yet, instead of breaking, Mitsuki experienced something extraordinary, an otherworldly connection as she received a direct “signal” from an alien. Shaken but resolute, she confided in Nikhil about this mysterious visitation. With these revelations in play, Episode 3 promises unexpected twists and powerful developments that will push the story into thrilling new territory.

Interestingly, creator Simon Kinberg revealed during an interview with Radio Times that he always envisioned four seasons for the show.

"From the beginning, I envisioned it as a four-season show, as an arc that starts from last season, which was a much slower burn character season, kind of day one of the invasion, and then season 2, it’s much more of the invasion, you’re really now in a war, it’s a much more active season with much more momentum to it, purposefully…And then that war would take some twists and turns, and we could follow it through to the end for another couple of seasons,” Kinberg states.

While some critics have mentioned that Invasion Season 3 continues to have problems with its pacing as it feels slow at times, many others have appreciated its focus on human relationships during the time of an apocalypse and its ability to make a season that feels fresh.
