The Simpsons has seemingly killed off yet another long-standing character in the show, and this time, it is Alice Glick. The beloved show has been airing since December 1989, and has seen 37 seasons so far, spanning over 790 episodes. In these years, Glick appeared for the first time on the show back in May 1991, during the second season.

During her debut appearance in the episode titled Three Men and a Comic Book, Alice meets Bart, who is trying to earn money to buy a collector's item comic book, for which he is running errands and doing chores for Alice. However, she refuses to pay him well for his work, which makes him increasingly frustrated with the character.

However, she has since appeared in the show multiple times as a permanent resident of Springfield, with her character being voiced by the late Cloris Leachman and then by Tress MacNeille.

Well, according to executive producer Tim Long, she won't be making any more appearances on the show, at least not alive.

How does Alice Glick die in The Simpsons Season 37?

In the latest episode of Season 37, the audience sees Alice Glick take her last breath as she suddenly collapses on the piano and dies during a sermon by Reverend Lovejoy at the church. Later in the episode, it is also revealed that the much-loved organist of the Church of Springfield left her estate to Springfield Elementary School so that they could fund the music program at the school.

Although incredibly tragic, the audience was having a hard time believing Glick's death, since she had also been killed off on the show earlier, during Season 22. She allegedly died at the hands of a Robopet that went rogue.

However, she appeared on the show multiple times, both living and as a ghost. But this time her death is real, as was confirmed by executive producer Tim Long.

In a statement, he announced,

"In a sense, Alice the organist will live forever, through the beautiful music she made. But in another, more important sense, yep she's dead as a doornail."

The Simpsons has previously killed off many characters on the show, even killing one of the central characters - Marge - in a flashforward in Season 36. However, the creators later confirmed that it was not a canon event and merely showed an alternative possibility.

Unfortunately, that is not the case for Alice Glick.

Season 37 of The Simpsons is currently streaming, but if anybody is interested in a really long binge-watch, they can stream all episodes on Disney+.
