Bob’s Burgers seems like it is about to put something new on the grill. There is a speculation in the air that the oddball staple of Sunday night TV might have a spin-off around the corner. However, nothing official has been confirmed so far. Media outlets such as ScreenRant are pointing to some breadcrumbs hiding in Season 16, especially episode 2 titled, 'Til Death Do Us Art.'
Since 2011, the Belchers have wormed their way into our hearts with their brand of family dysfunction, killer puns, and side characters that are somehow even weirder than the main crew. The 2022 movie was Bob’s Burgers taking a victory lap. Disney has already locked down the show for at least four more seasons, so we are not running out of Tina’s groans or Gene’s keyboard solos anytime soon.
But fans are talking like a spinoff is not just a pipe dream anymore. It has been a constant background noise in the fandom, but now, certain narratives and even some old faces popping up feel like the writers are purposely trying stuff out.
The Bob’s Burgers universe is absolutely filled with eccentrics who deserve their own adventures. Maybe we get a show about Teddy’s disastrous dating life, or Linda’s wine-fueled musical numbers, or Regular-Sized Rudy running an underground art scene. The big question is, are they actually laying down the first bricks for their own animated multiverse?
Is Bob’s Burgers setting up its first spinoff?

FOX still has not dropped the official word on a Bob’s Burgers spinoff, but Season 16 gave rise to the storm of rumors. The chatter is getting louder every week, and Aunt Gayle (voiced by Megan Mullally) is in the middle of it.
According to the analysis by ScreenRant, her expanded presence is not just about nostalgia or giving fans an extra laugh. You get the sense that showmakers are teeing her up for something way bigger, maybe even her own show. The “backdoor pilot” is not subtle here.
Gayle has always had that offbeat, unpredictable energy that could anchor a spinoff. She is a total oddball with her own little universe of art projects, bizarre pets, and tragic love stories. You could build a whole season around her just trying to get to a gallery opening without disaster striking. And with FOX so eager to beef up their Sunday night cartoon lineup, why not take a shot?
Now, FOX is not new to the spinoff game. The Simpsons has set the standard with The Cleveland Show. But Bob’s Burgers has kept to itself, doing its thing. Sure, fans have given out ideas like Mickey’s misadventures, a Fischoeder family soap opera, but up until now, it has all been wishful thinking. Meanwhile, all the real gossip lately is focused on Gayle.
The timing also seems suspicious. FOX nailed down a “mega deal” with Disney not long ago, locking in way more seasons of Bob’s Burgers. So the odds of seeing a spinoff experiment have never been better.
Interestingly, Comic-Con 2025 promo blitz was all about the main cast, sneak peeks, and a ton of hype, but when fans started poking around about spinoffs, nobody at FOX flat-out denied anything. If anything, they tiptoed around it, which is Hollywood for something is happening, but we can’t say yet.
In addition, eagle-eyed fans caught Gayle showing up in way more promos than you would expect for just a side character. Still, let us not get ahead of ourselves. No one has announced a pilot, there is zero casting news, and we are still living in the land of rumors and Reddit theories. But people are way more hyped than usual, probably because the clues are just piling up.
Bob’s Burgers: The story so far and why it is ripe for expansion

Bob’s Burgers has been going on for sixteen seasons. There is something magical about how the show juggles the lovely chaos of the Belcher family and a whole cast of adorable oddballs that fill out their world. It all started with Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene, and Louise, just trying to keep their burger shop afloat.
But the supporting crew, like Gayle (Linda’s sister), is that one relative you may not invite to holiday dinner, but she shows up anyway. Then have Calvin and Felix Fischoeder, who are like Monopoly men on acid. And Mickey, the criminal with a heart of gold (sort of), pops in, and suddenly, you are watching an episode that is not even about the Belchers anymore, and yet, you are totally on board.
The writers have this knack for turning background weirdos into scene-stealers, sometimes giving them entire storylines that could have been their own show. In addition, the settings are practically characters themselves. Wonder Wharf is like the Springfield of Bob’s Burgers with endless possibilities, a little seedy, and always fun. The characters keep circling back to main spots, building out a world where you can almost smell the fry grease and sea air.
Now, after so many years, writers are stretching their legs a bit. Recent plotlines, such as Bob's insomnia arc in Seasons 15 and 16, and the theme of family legacy, hit a little deeper than you would expect from a cartoon about burgers. Moreover, the show has welcomed experimentation at times, such as the cannibalism rumor in “Human Flesh.”
These factors make the show super flexible, as they could spin off Aunt Gayle and her cats into their own world of chaos, or dig into the underbelly of Wonder Wharf, and it would still feel right.
Given how Bob’s Burgers keeps testing the water with these side characters, it is almost shocking we haven’t gotten a spinoff yet. As of October 2025, there is no official word about it.
