The Bear Season 4 premiered on June 25, 2025, and like its previous seasons, this season also features a number of cameos. One of them stood out in particular, because of the character’s history with Natalie Berzatto (played by Abby Elliott). While it was never made clear what exactly went wrong between Natalie and Francie Fak, The Bear kept hinting at it from Season 2.
The Bear Season 4 finally introduces Francie Fak in person, played by Brie Larson. In episode 7, she comes to attend Frank and Tiffany’s wedding, and seeing her naturally upsets Natalie. Unfortunately, despite her appearing on screen, nothing much is known about the long-hinted-at feud, apart from the fact that Natalie and Francie had hooked up at some point during the past and Francie then did something that made Nat feel betrayed.

The Fak brothers — Neil, Teddy, and Sammy — share a good relationship with the Berzatto family. However, due to some dispute with Nat, their sister Francie was never invited to any of the family gatherings. The Bear Season 4 Episode 7 finally changes that as Francie attends Tiff’s wedding.
However, despite the character and her feud with Nat being hinted at through multiple previous seasons, Francie’s appearance does not add much value to the storyline of The Bear Season 4. Her beef with Nat is also not clearly talked about and the theory that they might have had a romantic history does not get confirmed either.
Given the number of important family events Francie had missed, Neil’s insistence of her attending this one seems a little odd. Although Tiffany is an extremely important member to the Berzatto family, Francie had to keep her distance from other core events of this family because of Nat. Therefore, Nat agreeing to come face to face with her on an occasion like this makes the purpose of the character’s addition a little confusing.
The Bear as a show has often focused on cameos and guest appearances. The episode titled Fishes consisted of a huge number of cameos including that of Bob Odenkirk as Uncle Lee. However, the emotional intensity of that episode made all the cameos work as the tension between the characters played out extremely well.
Unfortunately, that does not happen in the case of Francie. While she did share a history with Nat, the lack of focus on her character and their past makes her a rather futile addition to the long list of cameos on the show.
