Tulsa King Season 3 is about to release on September 21, 2025, and speculations are already rife about the future of Dwight in the crime drama series. Created by Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King Season 3 will stream on Paramount+, and the show will bring back Sylvester Stallone in his iconic role of Dwight “The General” Manfredi.
The show began on the premise that Dwight is an American mafia caporegime who is released from prison in New York after 25 years and is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, by his boss to set up criminal operations over there. Over the course of two seasons, Dwight creates connections with the local people there and befriends characters like Tyson Mitchell, Lawrence “Bodhi” Geigerman, Mitch Keller, and others.
During this time, Dwight also gets frustrated with his syndicate in New York and begins to aim for his own criminal empire in Tulsa. In Season 2 of the show, another important character shows up, and that is Cal Thresher. He is a businessman and is involved in the criminal underworld due to drug trafficking. However, he is averse to violence and ultimately hands over his business to Dwight.
Here's a look at some speculations about Cal Thresher in Tulsa King Season 3.
Who is Cal Thresher in Tulsa King Season 3? Character arc explored

Played by Neal McDonough, Cal Thresher makes an appearance on the show in Season 2. He is a businessman in Tulsa and is also involved in the drug trafficking business. In the second season, he becomes Dwight’s primary antagonist and is a formidable figure. However, unlike other mafia people, Cal Thresher is sophisticated, insidious, and does not believe in brute force alone. He likes to study his enemies and attack when the iron is hot.
In Season 2, Dwight and Cal engage in a battle over who will rule Tulsa’s mafia operations. While Dwight is old-school and believes in using physical force, Cal Thresher is manipulative and cold and likes to use his wits. With Cal’s entrance, Dwight has to not only refocus on his strengths and tactics but also face challenges about his alliances and reconsider everything. Cal tries to cause problems by rigging Dwight’s trial and attacking the wind farm.
However, things change when Cal’s business partner, Jackie Ming, is revealed to be the leader of a group of Chinese gangsters and becomes a problem for both Cal and Dwight. Jackie is hell-bent on killing Dwight and does not have a problem squaring up with Cal as well. Towards the end, therefore, Dwight has to save himself and Cal from Jackie, and instead of killing Cal for all the problems he has caused him, Dwight lets him go and takes over his weed farm.
Is Cal Thresher going up against Dwight in Tulsa King Season 3? Details explored

Towards the end of Season 2 of the show, Dwight is kidnapped by a shadowy gang in Margaret Devereaux’s home. The gang brings him to an isolated location, and a mysterious man tells him that Dwight will now work for them. As Tulsa King Season 3 hasn’t begun yet, fans can only speculate over who this shadowy gang is and what type of work they want Dwight to do for them and why.
According to Screen Rant, even though there were clues that a government organization was after Dwight, the people who kidnapped him were not in uniform and did not feel legal. Therefore, it could be that Cal Thresher is back to resume business with Dwight and is once again against him.
Further, it is uncanny that Cal could just let go of his business so easily and hand it over to Dwight. According to Collider, Cal also has connections in politics, as is shown by his relationship with the Attorney General in the season. Therefore, it could be that if the gang members who kidnapped Dwight are actually from the government, then Cal could have a hand behind all of this.
However, all of this is pure speculation at this point, and it remains to be seen whether Cal will be back in Tulsa King Season 3 and take on Dwight or whether he will stay retired.
