Is Conrad in love with Agnes in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3? Here’s what we think

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 finally premiered with the first two episodes, and the internet is flabbergasted by the end of it, to say the least. With the new season came the introduction of many new characters, including Lacie Barone and Agnes, both of whom have a special connection with the Fisher brothers.

We are first introduced to Agnes when she shares a coffee with Conrad and informs him that they both got into the prestigious summer internship, and by their manner of celebration, the two appear to be very close. Considering the time jump where Belly has been dating Jeremiah for the past four years, it's possible that Conrad has moved on from Belly and is now dating Agnes. Here's what we know so far.

Who is Agnes in The Summer I Turned Pretty

First things first, Agnes is introduced as one of Conrad's closest friends while he's in medical school. She's played by Zoé De Grand'Maison, who we've previously seen in projects such as Riverdale and Orphan Black. Agnes is seen alongside Conrad as a close friend and confidante, and the two share an affectionate bond, but could they be romantically involved as well?

Laurel, in a conversation with Belly, also seems to indicate that the two might even be romantically involved. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is set four years after the events of the last season, which means it's been four years since Conrad walked out of the motel room after letting Belly go and accepting that she chose Jeremiah over him. This period is more than enough time for him to get romantically involved with someone, so let's break down his and Agnes' relationship.

Agnes and Conrad's relationship in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3

Agnes and Conrad are really great friends, and it's revealed in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 that they were even romantically involved at some point. Agnes gets into the same summer clinic residency program as Conrad, and to celebrate, the two meet at a bar to share a drink. During this meet-up, Agnes suggests to Conrad that he could improve his dull mood by distraction and getting involved with one of the girls in the bar who is eyeing him. To her suggestion, Conrad replies:

"Oh no no no, please don't say that. And I'm not very good at relationships. You of all people should know that one."

Conrad's reply makes it clear that even though it has been four years, he is yet to feel ready enough to get back into relationships anytime soon. However, Conrad's reply in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 does mean that these two were involved at some point. Agnes reveals a little more about their history when she says:

"Okay, who said anything about a relationship, first of all? And yeah, you were clear from the get-go that you weren't looking for one. I was the one who pressed the issue. Anyway, ancient history."

Agnes' comments give a little more insight into their history, and it's revealed that Conrad and Agnes were involved at one point, probably when they first became friends. However, Agnes wanted to turn it into a relationship, whereas Conrad didn't (we all know why).

Whether Conrad was ever in love with Agnes or not is made even clearer in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 when Agnes asks him:

"Have you ever been in love?"

To which he goes on to answer yes, once, referring to Belly. She goes on to ask him how he knew he loved her, to which he replies:

"It wasn't one moment. It was.. You know, when you're still half-asleep and you dont even realize that you're awake, until there's none moment when you just are. It's like that. Like one day, i just.. (woke up)"

Conrad's declaration in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 makes it very, very clear that he is still in love with Belly and there hasn't been anyone else he's felt the same way about since her.

So, Conrad is not in love with Agnes, but she is a very good friend and confidante to him, as we see in the first two episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3. Agnes also doesn't seem to have any romantic feelings for Conrad. She is only a platonic friend, which is clear from her advice after Conrad is fired from his internship. She advises him that he needs to pay more attention to his feelings and stop denying them, referring to his distracted state after Belly's brother's accident:

"As long as you're afraid to face them, they'll run you, and not the other way around."
