Peacemaker has returned with Season 2, and viewers are quick to pose the vital question: Not how many F-bombs will be dropped this week, but is Eagly in the other dimension? James Gunn's new run leans to the concept of a multiverse, so it is fair for fans to speculate whether the wingman exists on the alternate side as well.

What we can say without giving away spoilers is: Eagly is certainly returning in the new season of Peacemaker, and is an even bigger part of the show than before, with Season 2 spread across parallel universes.

What's more, Peacemaker creator Gunn says this time Eagly is all set to get his own story, too, involving a villain named Red St. Wild. Gunn explained a while back in an EW exclusive,

"His name is Red St. Wild, and he's the world's foremost eagle hunter who is on a mission to kill Eagly." He added: "We thought Eagly was probably the most popular character from Season 1, and so in Season 2, he has his own story with his nemesis, played by none other than the despicable Michael Rooker."

The season will surely focus on new stakes centered on John Cena's Chris Smith, or Peacemaker, but keep the heart of the show, the hug-happy bird Eagly, at the forefront.

What is the “other universe” exactly, in Peacemaker Season 2?

Peacemaker Season 2 introduces an alternate reality that intersects with the one of Peacemaker, which might refer more to a neighbouring dimension than an infinite anything-goes multiverse. James Gunn has emphasised this is not like the typical superhero multiverses filled with thousands of versions of characters.

In practice, this means that the show is free to compare who Chris Smith used to be with who he would have been in an alternate life, and still remain a tightly focused character-based story. TechRadar notes that Season 1 and Season 2 take place in different comic-book timelines. Because the series is now transitioning into the new DCU, Gunn gets the liberty of altering history, introduce new characters, and do cameos - without compromising the tone and style of the show.

Now that it has been confirmed that Eagly will be a major focus in Season 2 of Peacemaker, the question comes up: In what way? Read on.

Michael Rooker portrays Red St. Wild, the world's best eagle hunter in Peacemaker Season 2, and he wants to kill Eagly. Since a primary antagonist is focused on the bird, it is obvious that Eagly will have get screen time this season.

However, has anyone officially declared that there is another variant of Eagly in the second season of Peacemaker ? Not exactly. All we know is that the show will imply a portal between worlds, and early reports show Eagly poking around in that space. That way, the series has us wondering whether there is another eagle out there, or whether Eagly will cross over to the other reality. It remains a speculation, but one that makes sense regarding the plot of Peacemaker Season 2 and Eagly playing a bigger role.

Why Eagly in the other universe matters?

Eagly is more than a funny sidekick, he is the emotional strength of Peacemaker. If the other universe creates its own version of Eagly or the original Eagly has some way of traveling into the other world, then the story immediately becomes more personal and heightens the tension. Imagine Chris in a world where he fits in, where he can have his family and even a perfect Eagly. That arrangement would seem like a tempting option.

Meanwhile, providing Eagly with his own villain, Red St. Wild, is both humorous and clever, since it adds to the saga without losing the themes of friendship and family that the show has always relied on. We may or may not see a second Eagly, but it is clear that the bird moves the plot forward and threatens what Chris loves most. It is precisely through the bird that a great cross-reality adventures could be generated in Peacemaker Season 2.
