CBS recently canceled The Equalizer, the Queen Latifah-starring show, and it won’t be returning for a Season 6. Deadline reported the cancellation, meaning the Sunday episode, on May 4, 2025, would not just be the Season 5 finale but an overall series finale of the reboot series of the same name.
The Equalizer has reportedly become one of the six scripted shows that CBS has recently canceled, which also includes procedural shows such as FBI: International, S.W.A.T., and FBI: Most Wanted.

Is there going to be a Season 6 of The Equalizer? Details explored
As mentioned, Queen Latifah’s Robyn McCall will not be returning with new challenges as The Equalizer has been canceled by CBS after five seasons. The drama, which served as a reboot for the 1985 series of the same name, was created by Richard Lindheim and Michael Sloan (the creators of the original series).
The crime drama that premiered in 2021 focused on Latifah's Robyn, a former CIA operative who became a vigilante and tried to help the people overlooked by society who are denied help by most of society. Season 5 of the show had to go through two time slot changes, due to the arrival of two new shows at CBS, Tracker and Watson.
Deadline also reported that Latifah and the crew of the show were ready to cut down their budgets and make Season 6 a 13-episode final season, to suit CBS, but unfortunately was not picked by the studio. Other than the FBI spinoff and the original FBI series, which is in its first year of a three-year contract, CBS has cancelled all the other shows by Universal Television.
More about The Equalizer
The season 5 finale and now the series finale served as the perfect ending of the TV show as Robyn kills Angel Salazar, who tracked down the Equalizer and was trying to hurt her and the people around her, which he almost succeeded in as Dante was injured and had to go into surgery but not before proposing to Robyn.
Other than Robyn, her daughter Dee finally met her favorite author, who encouraged her to fight for her place as she wanted to get into Howard but was rejected due to being arrested.
The Equalizer star, Queen Latifah, also shared an Instagram post about her time working on the show and how grateful she was for all the people involved, including her fans. She shared:
"Stepping into a kick-ass role like Robyn was everything I hoped it would be. Shakim and I at Flavor Unit are always excited to bring these kinds of roles and projects to life — and then we just hope you love them as much as we do. The Equalizer blew past every dream we had for it, and having the opportunity to do this for five seasons honestly feels surreal."
She continued:
"Thank you to our amazing cast, crew, and producers and writers! And I can’t say enough about the FANS! Y’all have been so loyal, so loud, and so ride-or-die — and that’s exactly why we keep doing this. We can’t thank you enough. It means the world to us. And don’t worry — I’ll be back kicking ass in something new real soon. Can’t wait to share it with you."
