Is Niragi in Season 3 of Alice in Borderland? Details explored

Netflix’s sci-fi thriller Alice in Borderland season 3 premiered on September 25, 2025. Directed by Shinsuke Sato and based on Haro Aso’s hit manga of the same name, the series has kept fans hooked since its debut. Ahead of the new season, many viewers were left wondering if Suguru Niragi, played by Dori Sakurada, would return, especially since he was noticeably absent from much of the promotional material and teasers. After months of speculation, the mystery has finally been resolved.

Even though Niragi did not appear in most parts of Season 3 of Alice in Borderlands. He appeared in a short sequence in the ending moments of the Alice in Borderland Season 3 finale episode, along with other supporting characters.

Previously, in Season 2, Niragi survives the Boderland game but sustains severe injuries as Arisu shoots him with a hunting rifle. But later moves him and Chishiya under the cars to keep them safe. Like everyone else, when Niragi is offered a choice between staying in the Borderland and organizing games or returning to the old world, Niragi chooses to return to the old world. It seems like finally he had a change of heart and is hopeful of his life in the old world. Both Niragi and Chishiya wake up in the old world in a hospital. They discover that he suffered from a cardiac arrest after a meteorite exploded over Tokyo.

Is Niragi in Season 3 of Alice in Borderland? Here's what we know

Yes, Niragi is in Season 3 of Alice in Borderland. However, his screentime is drastically reduced compared to the previous seasons. He appears at the closing moments of the finale episode. In the episode, we see Arisu counselling his clients, who are none other than the OG characters from the previous seasons of Alice in Borderland, which include Niragi, Chishiya, Kuina, and Aguni.

In a comforting moment, we see Arisu asking each of them,

"What is it that gives you a sense of purpose, a sense of meaning in life?

To which Niragi smiles and replies,

"For a long time, I really didn't know. I didn't understand why I was still alive. But lately, I've realized coming to terms with my being alive is my mission in life. So, right now I work with kids that are in trouble."

It's comforting to watch Niragi's growth from a ruthless and insensitive character to someone who cherishes life and nurtures young minds.

Through the session sequence with Arisu, we also learn that Aguni is now managing the Hatter's hat shop. While Heiya is now an influencer and travel enthusiast, and as the camera pans towards her prosthetic leg, Arisu applauds her for her courage. When Arisu asks the same question to Chishiya, she replies that even if she doesn't have a viable answer for it, life can still be good, to which Arisu agrees. She asks the same question to him, which leaves Arisu quite impressed.
