The actress's American-French heritage and a creatively rich family background helped her shape a career in the entertainment industry. While her mother is a former brodway dancer, Chalamet's father is a French journalist and an editor.

Pauline Chalamet was raised in an artist-friendly community— Manhattan Plaza in Hell’s Kitchen. During her childhood, The Sex Lives of College Girls star studied ballet alongside Modern Family star, Sarah Hyland. Following her admiration for art, Pauline Chalamet stepped into acting in the late 1990s. She began taking small roles in projects like One Life to Live (2010), and Royal Pains (2016), through which the actress showcased her talents. Chalamet made her film debut in Judd Apatow's 2020 comedy, The King of Staten Island, marking a crucial step in her career.

The Sex Lives of College Girls star further explored independent cinema with the 2021 dark comedy, What Doesn't Float, in which she not only played a character named Alex but also co-produced the film through her company. Now, she has returned to the cast of The Sex Lives of College Girls for Season 3.

However, acting wasn't always her plan. Pauline Chalamet explored different aspects of the arts before transforming into an acclaimed actress. Additionally, she enjoys music and loves singing and playing piano.

Pauline Chalamet welcomed her first child in 2024

This year marked Pauline Chalamet's new journey as she welcomed her first child with partner and filmmaker, Rhys Raiskin. This announcement was made during the Paris Fashion Week, where Greta Gerwig joined her.

During her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show alongside her The Sex Lives of College Girls castmates and showrunner, Mindy Kaling, Pauline Chalamet shared how she first shared the news with Kaling and received helpful advice from her co-star. Chalamet said:

"I think Mindy was one of the first people to know I was pregnant... So she was like, "Yeah, ok, no problem. And this is how we'll handle it.' And everyone was so supportive."

Kaling's supportive and calm response helped Chalamet feel confident as she prepared to begin a new chapter.
