Eyes of Wakanda debuted on Disney+ on August 1, 2025, in a pointedly focused four-episode arc that brought audiences deep into the under-examined historical roots of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Eyes of Wakanda staked out a distinctive niche in the MCU by following the Hatut Zeraze, Wakanda's greatest warriors, through the centuries as they hunted down pilfered vibranium. But now that the season is done, questions in every fan's head are: Is Eyes of Wakanda Season 2 coming?

The show was created and written by Todd Harris, who also served as the showrunner. Although Ryan Coogler was an executive producer, the creative drive was completely headed by Harris. Each episode was an anthology, set within the MCU's Sacred Timeline, with various characters and different eras in history serving as the foundation for each episode.

Without continuation implied from its independent story structure, the likelihood of Eyes of Wakanda Season 2 is unclear, but here's what we know.

No official announcement for Season 2

As of August 2, 2025, Eyes of Wakanda has not been renewed for Season 2. Disney+ and Marvel Studios have said nothing about continuing it. There are no leaks, press releases, or stories with interviews telling us that a Season 2 is underway. Entertainment news websites like Radio Times confirm the series remains a miniseries, and there are no future episodes in the pipeline.

While fans can expect more of the MCU's growing universe naturally, Eyes of Wakanda has not been formally greenlit for more than its initial four-episode season.

The format can support more, but does not need to

Eyes of Wakanda was constructed using an adaptive narrative structure. Every episode is self-contained and about different characters in the history of Wakanda, but all are connected by the shared trend of collecting vibranium artifacts worldwide. Anthology technique allows the creators to keep the series open-ended and not work with recurring characters and continuous storylines.

But though the format leaves room for continuation, it does not require a second season. The episodes available form a complete story with beginnings and endings in sight. Unless Marvel requires to employ the series for more world-building, its original form is a self-contained work.

No public comment from Todd Harris or Ryan Coogler

Neither showrunner Todd Harris nor executive producer Ryan Coogler has indicated publicly if Eyes of Wakanda Season 2 will happen. Their pre-release and post-release marketing speeches have been more about the creative process and the first historical approach employed by the series.

No hints or teasers have been given for future development, production schedules, or storyboarding for season two. As there have been no announcements affirming or even intimating continuation, present conjectures on season two are theorized on the basis of speculation.

Disney+ has not released viewership statistics

Up to now, Disney+ has not provided any information on the viewership and popularity of Eyes of Wakanda. Compared to more mature Marvel releases, which have streaming rankings or subscriber numbers, the show has taken a low profile.

Absent from public metrics, it's impossible to determine if the series has overcome performance benchmarks within the show that justify renewal. Speculation about a season two based on strong performance is not supported by hard numbers.

Critical and audience reaction is positive, but quantified

Early reactions for Eyes of Wakanda have been overall positive, with focus given to its animation style, its historical accuracy, and its new, streamlined narrative. That being said, it hasn't created mass media buzz or trending-level coverage like some earlier MCU attempts, like Loki or What If?

The critics have attributed the show's unique tone and minimalist approach to storytelling, which would find favor with more niche audiences than normal superhero fans. This is not necessarily an ill sign, but it does indicate the show's probable role as a one-off creative effort and not part of a franchise.

Connected to the MCU, but still Standalone

Although the series is set in the MCU's main Sacred Timeline, it is not based on the actual actors from the Black Panther films, like T'Challa and Shuri. Instead, it uses the wide mythology of Wakanda to create new characters and eras.

This gives the show its MCU heft without requiring spinoffs down the line. In short, the show is well-placed in the MCU but avoids cliffhangers and hanging plotlines that require a second season.

So, is Season 2 likely? For now, it is not, at least on paper. The show is a standalone four-part anthology, and there has been no public statement or news from Marvel Studios, Disney+, or the creators regarding any continuation.

In spite of the format of the show obviously lending itself to further expansion, all information so far available up to August 2, 2025, seems to suggest that Eyes of Wakanda is a limited series. Until mainstream sources release more information, viewers can do nothing but reminisce about existing episodes and hope that Wakandan history has something more up its sleeve in this regard.
