Peacemaker Season 2 is finally here, and fans can't stop talking about Rick Flag Sr. The character, played by Frank Grillo, has already shown up in Creature Commandos and Superman, but now that he's chasing down Peacemaker, people are wondering if he feels a little different this time around.

Some fans say yes, others say it's just part of his journey. Reddit, of course, has thoughts, and the debate is getting heated.

Fans think Rick Flag Sr. is shifting with Peacemaker Season 2, depending on the show

Over on Reddit, user Ashamed_Statement347 kicked off the discussion by pointing out how Rick Flag Sr. doesn't seem the same in each project. They wrote,

"Maybe it's just me but I feel like we keep getting different versions of Rick Flag Sr in Creature Commandos, Superman and now Peacemaker. For the guy sort of acting like a constant across the DCU, I feel like there's been no consistency in his personality."

That post sparked a wave of replies. Some fans agreed, saying that while Rick Flag Sr. was more of a controlled military character in Superman, his anger and grief take over in Peacemaker Season 2.

Redditor WildMemoir added,

"I don't think we've seen enough of him in one episode of Peacemaker to tell exactly where the character is after all that happened in Superman... Peacemaker is him grieving and at his most personal...where will he go and how the lessons he learned in the past will affect the way he interacts w Chris."

Another user, Scotlander, pushed back, saying the differences aren't inconsistency but evolution. According to them, Rick Flag Sr. may look vulnerable or even incompetent in Creature Commandos, but his intelligence and combat skills remain constant. User Scotlander explains,

"He is portrayed as an absolutely skilled and respected veteran... really, the incompetency you've highlighted is his one character flaw that stops him from being unreasonably effective..."

So, depending on who you ask, Rick Flag Sr. either feels inconsistent or he's just reacting to the mess his life has become, especially after finding out Peacemaker killed his son.

Grief, power, and revenge may explain the differences in Peacemaker Season 2

Some fans aren't convinced that Flag Sr. is "changing" across shows. Instead, they think we're seeing the same man in different stages of his story.

Redditor rhllors gave one of the most detailed breakdowns, explaining how in Creature Commandos, Flag Sr. was still serving under Waller, wounded by his son's death, and easily manipulated.

In Superman, he stepped up as head of ARGUS, becoming more serious and restrained-still by the book, even if he didn't agree with Lex Luthor.

But Peacemaker Season 2 is where things get personal. As rhllors put it;

"In Peacemaker... he now knows fully what happened to his son... that anger and grief has consumed him. To hear Grillo describe it, Flag is on a power trip and doesn't care about anything except revenge."

Other users agreed that this rage doesn't erase his leadership skills. Instead, it amplifies his flaws, and his emotions now drive his decisions, whether that's monitoring Peacemaker out of pure hate or bending the rules just to get closer to vengeance.

It's this balance of discipline and unhealed wounds that has fans torn. Is it an inconsistency? Or just a character spiraling after years of pain? If anything, that tension is exactly what makes watching him in Peacemaker Season 2 so unpredictable.

Rick Flag Sr. may look like a different man in Peacemaker Season 2 compared to Creature Commandos and Superman, but fans can't agree on whether that's a flaw or brilliant writing.

Some see inconsistency, while others see a man consumed by grief and evolving with every appearance. Either way, the debate proves one thing: Frank Grillo's Flag is one of the most talked-about parts of the DCU right now, and Peacemaker Season 2 is where it all comes to a head.
