Stranger Things is by far one of the most successful shows on Netflix, one that has perhaps the most revenue and the highest number of fans worldwide. Thus, any slightly controversial news about the show or its stars can understandably make any viewer curious and speculate. Ahead of the premiere of Stranger Things Season 5, alleged news has surfaced about stars Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour.

As Page Six reports, Millie Bobby Brown allegedly filed a complaint against David Harbour, accusing him of bullying and harassment on the set of Stranger Things.

Is it true that Millie Bobby Brown filed a lawsuit against her Stranger Things co-star, David Harbour?

Millie Bobby Brown first rose to fame when she started playing Eleven in Stranger Things back in 2016. Since then, Brown has played the character that has become a fan favorite. David Harbour, on the other hand, has played Jim Hopper on the show since its beginning as well. Hopper is Hawkins' Sheriff, who later becomes Eleven's adoptive father. Thus, Brown and Harbour have spent considerable time both on-screen and off-screen, given that Brown and other castmates of her age grew up on the show's sets.

Harbour has always been protective of Brown, given how young she was when she started working on Stranger Things. In 2021, he spoke about how protective he feels of her in an episode of That Scene with Dan Patrick, saying,

“Millie and I have always had sort of a special relationship because I knew her when she was so young. I knew her before any of this big fame hit,”

He continued,

“I have a real protective feeling for her. I have a real, like, worry, I worry about her and the fame and all that she has to struggle with.”

But as Page Six reports, before filming for Stranger Things Season 5 began, Millie Bobby Brown allegedly filed a complaint against David Harbour, accusing him of bullying and harassment. This hasn't been confirmed or denied by Netflix or any of the other parties involved. A source told Page Six,

“Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season,"

They also said,

“There were pages and pages of accusations. The investigation went on for months.”

Page Six also reports that there are no se*ual harrasment allegations in the complaint. The result of the internal investigation is, however, not known. But since both Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour are reprising their roles for Season 5, one can assume that if a complaint was indeed filed and an investigation did take place, the problem was likely solved or dealt with, which allowed the stars to still work together. Besides, the source also revealed that Brown had a representative on set when she was filming Season 5.

While Netflix is yet to speak publicly about this, a source from the company spoke to Page Six about why the incident hasn't been addressed publicly and how it could affect Stranger Things Season 5. They said,

“It will be a theatrical event. Nothing is going to overshadow this, not even the leading man’s private life,”

The source said that Netflix will

“never comment”

on whether the incident is true or its aftermath. The source also said,

“But the fact they’ve not denied it speaks volumes,”

They continued,

“‘Stranger Things’ helped put Netflix on the map. Millions of fans around the world have been anticipating the finale. No one wants anything to take attention away from that.’”

What the source said makes sense given how important Season 5 is. Even if the allegations are true, Netflix is likely playing it safe by not addressing it, because they don't want to risk the attention getting diverted from Season 5 to behind-the-scenes issues.

Stranger Things Season 5 will be released in three volumes, which are going to be released on November 26, 2025, Christmas, and New Year's Eve, respectively.
