Stranger Things Season 5 has a very crucial emotional center of a father-daughte rbond that has shaped the series for all the previous seasons. We're talking about David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown, who had one of the most sentimental and intimate storyline across all the seasons, creating some of the warmest and most vulnerable father daughter moments the series has ever delivered. Those scenes land with extra weight because they arrive shortly after reports claimed Brown filed a bullying and harassment complaint against Harbour before production began.
Volume 1 of Stranger Things Season 5 jumps straight into danger. Hopper enters the Upside Down for another Crawl the group’s term for a mission to track Vecna. He does not expect Eleven to follow, but she joins him after Holly Wheeler, played by Nell Fisher, is taken by a demogorgon. From that moment, the two characters move through one intense situation after another. Hopper is terrified for her safety because the military is hunting her.
In another scene, Hopper opens up to Eleven about his late daughter, Sara. The moment is one of the season’s most powerful scenes. As Eleven tends to a wound on Hopper’s side, he talks about Sara’s courage during her illness and how doctors believed she would survive. He then tells Eleven,
"I don't want to lose you. I won't."
Their emotional arc continues. In episode 4, the pair break into a government building. Before they separate, Hopper urges Eleven to take the safer route. He tells her he will not risk her life, and he tells her he is proud of her,
"I'm not gonna risk losing you. From here on out, I want you to know how proud I am of you. I am so proud of you. I am so proud of what you've overcome. I'm proud of who you are."
More details about Stranger Things actors Millie Bobby Brown and Dabid Harbour's relationship off-screen
Both Harbour and Brown have been open about their closeness off-screen Stranger Things, despite the reports of harrassment. In a recent interview, Brown told Deadline that she has a "great" relationship with the Thunderbolts actor as she opened up on their bond and said,
“David and I have a great relationship. We work really closely together in the scenes and in preparing for the scenes. Those scenes that I feel, I think, are going to be quite impactful. I love it. It makes me want to bring my A game every single time I see that I’m on the call sheet working with him because I know he’s bringing it right back.”
Meanwhile Harbour has also praised his co-star and all the other actors of Stranger Things as he told Entertainment Tonight during a red carpet appearance,
“I adore her. I’ve been proud to watch all of them grow up and become great artists. I doubt it will be the last time we’ll see each other in this world or work together."
