The Gilded Age Season 3 premiered on June 22 and has been raking in great reviews, leading the audience to wonder if The Gilded Age Season 4 will happen. Since the premiere of Season 1 in 2022, the show has had a consistent growth in viewership, and Season 3 has been no different. It saw the highest viewership so far, compared to the previous two season premieres.

At the time of writing this article, there is no official confirmation regarding The Gilded Age Season 4. However, if HBO's past trends and the Season 3 viewership is considered, there is a high probability that the show will be renewed for a fourth season. Here's everything we know so far.

The latest installment of this period drama premiered on June 22 with new episodes set to release every Sunday through August 10. Season 3 has garnered the most viewership ever for the show besides critical acclaim.

According to a June 25, 2025, report in The Hollywood Reporter:

The June 22 debut of the HBO drama gathered 2.7 million cross-platform viewers in the United States over three days. That’s a 27 per cent improvement on the season two premiere (2.1 million viewers over three days) in October 2023. The series debut in 2022 drew in 2 million viewers over the same amount of time.

This has led to fans wondering if the show will be returning with The Gilded Age Season 4. HBO doesn't announce confirmation on renewal for some time after its show premieres. The second season was confirmed a month after the first season's premiere whereas the third was confirmed mere days after the Season 2 finale.

Therefore, if past trends are taken into consideration, we should be getting an update on The Gilded Age Season 4 sometime in August when Season 3 is scheduled to wrap up. If the viewership for the premiere is any indication, the update should be positive.

Carrie Coon, who plays Bertha Russell on The Gilded Age, revealed in a conversation with Variety that the show is on a one-year deal and if the viewership numbers rise, there is a high chance they would return for another season. According to Just Jared, she told Variety:

"Right now we’re on a one-year deal. So I’m optimistic that we could get another year. If for some reason the numbers skyrocket this season, perhaps we’d get a multi-year deal, but that’s really above my pay grade.”

The cast and the crew is also hoping for a positive update in terms of The Gilded Age Season 4, as Coon in another conversation with TVInsider revealed some of the storylines that might be explored if the show were renewed for another season:

"Bertha is preemptively trying to make society comfortable for divorced women. We know Bertha, we know that any effort she’s making is not entirely altruistic. There’s always something self-serving in that effort. And so perhaps if we were to get a Season 4, which we would love to have, we would explore that possibility."

Things seem to looking positive for the period drama all things considered, but we will be holding out for an official update from HBO before any confirmation regarding The Gilded Age Season 4.
