An all-new ensemble of guests is ready to check into The White Lotus Season 4, as HBO Max earlier renewed creator Mike White's dark comedy anthology series, which debuted in 2021.
After The White Lotus' recent sweep at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, where the show was nominated for a total of 23 Emmys, all eyes are on the upcoming season.
Each season of The White Lotus is set in a different location and follows a new ensemble of guests who check into the titular chain resort for a week of rejuvenation and unwinding. However, with each passing day, their vacation takes a darker turn and the lines between the lives of the guests and staff start to blur.
Every season of the anthology is self-contained for the most part, with only three actors appearing in more than one season, namely Jennifer Coolidge, Jon Gries and Natasha Rothwell.
In addition to The White Lotus Season 4 renewal, there were no further details about the upcoming season. However, in a recent interview, the HBO Max CEO revealed that Season 4 production will begin soon.
More on this in our story.
The White Lotus Season 4 production will start looking for locations soon
Mike White's highly acclaimed anthology series is all about the pretty locations and the drama (and dead bodies) that unfold there. While fans are already manifesting to see their favorite celebrities check into The White Lotus Season 4, there is a lot of mystery around where White will set his upcoming season.
While The White Lotus Season 4 production is yet to start the location hunting process, HBO Max CEO Casey Bloys has finally given a positive update about the same in a recent interview with Variety and revealed that Mike White will begin the process 'soon':
“It really does depend on when [White] sees a location, what he thinks about it and how it works with the story he’s trying to tell.''
He added:
“So I just don’t know until he actually goes and tours a lot of places, and what excites him and what speaks to him. He will go through that process and we’ll take his lead.”
The upcoming season of The White Lotus will likely be set 'somewhere in Europe'
In addition to a mysterious & elite guest list and a couple of dead bodies, The White Lotus Season 4 primarily needs a beautiful location for the creator to set his story in. The previous seasons of the anthology series featured the backdrops of a haunting Hawaii, sun-soaked Sicily and tropical Thailand for Seasons 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
All eyes are on the next perfect location, which will become the hub of a crazy week, featuring wild resort guests and the titular hotel staff. While the location hunting process is yet to start, HBO’s EVP Francesca Orsi revealed a key detail in her recent interview with Deadline:
“I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe.''
Bloys confirmed this with Variety:
“I don’t know where it’s going to end up. I know it has been reported, Europe in general.”
Mike White, who has previously worked on the HBO series Enlightened (set in Hawaii), chose this location as the setting for Season 1. The creator was inspired by the culture and character of the place and weaved together a story around it.
Since the setting is an important part of White's anthology series and he incorporates elements of the location and its culture in each season, hunting for the perfect location for The White Lotus Season 4 will certainly be a task.
