FBI season 8 Episode 4 premiered on November 3, 2025, and did not feature Zeeko Zaki's OA.

Since then, fans have been spiralling about the possible reason and whether Zeeko is still part of the FBI. Reports reveal that the character's absence was intentional and part of the cast rotation; longer-running shows usually do so to cut costs.

OA and Maggie were assigned to protect Senator Charlotte Hirsch, who has been targeted for assassination. While the two officers on the plane with the senator, the latter is poisoned by the assassin using a tampered cane. During the process, OA gets accidentally exposed to the same poison, and Maggie is tasked with getting the antidote in time. This is how OA survives and is hospitalized for monitoring.

The next episode 4 doesn't feature the character as he remains out of the central narrative unfolding with the team solving another case again. However, as per One Chicago Center, OA will be back by episode 6 again, accompanying Maggie.

The previous episode 3 showcases OA and Maggie being on duty to protect the Senator ahead of the elections. However, things go upside down when the Senator goes to the washroom and doesn't come back. When the officers go to check in, they see her unresponsive body, poisoned, lying in the washroom.

They guessed that the assassin could be one of the passengers, and that is when they encountered a blind man with a cane. They discover that the cane is tampered with and is filled with he same poison. In a fight with the man, OA gets exposed to the same poison, and his health starts to deteriorate. Maggie decides to save his partner no matter what. She manages to get the antidote just in the right time and makes OA survive. OA gets hospitalised and is seen getting monitored by the end of the episode.

In the next episode 4, the character doesn't appear. Some reports state that the writers have introduced shorter story arcs for some regular characters to keep them out of the show for some episodes. This way, the producers can manage the budget constraints. This is a common strategy in long-running procedural shows.

Therefore, we can say that OA's departure from the FBI is only temporary, and he will be back in the most unexpected ways when he recovers fully in the story. Additionally, this is also part of a cast rotation strategy for CBS as they trim the number of guaranteed episodes for regulars.

FBI has also been renewed for a new season 9; indeed, the show's journey is far from the end.
