For all the Potterheads out there, Wednesday Season 2 has been nothing short of a visual treat. It cannot be denied that both series have their fair share of similarities, which calls to the fans of the Harry Potter franchise. However, one such similarity that just cannot be overlooked is how Wednesday Season 2 handled Issac Night, aka Slurp’s death in the end.
Right after Pugsley resurrected Issac Newton’s body, things began to take a turn. Initially, Slurp seemed to be just a zombie; however, slowly his dangerous side came to light, and it turned out that he is after the Addams family. The manner in which Issac is killed reminded me of Peter Pettigrew’s death from the books.
Issac’s death in Wednesday Season 2 is quite similar to that of Peter Pettigrew’s death
For all the fans who have just watched the movies of Harry Potter, Peter Pettigrew’s death would seem nothing alike Issac’s. However, for the readers of the book, the similarity is just too much to ignore. In Wednesday Season 2, Issac turns out to be the one that Morticia and Gomez kill, which comes as a shock, but what shocks us even further is the fact that Thing actually belongs to Issac Night.
In the series, we see Thing going to a support group with severed body parts coming together to share their difficulties. Thing wanted to reunite with the body from which he was severed. So, when Issac finally connects Thing to his body despite Thing’s reluctance, he becomes even more powerful. In the end, when Wednesday and Morticia finally arrive to save Pugsley from the danger, Thing fights back with Issac and, in the end, takes Issac’s clockwork heart out, killing him.

On the other hand, we know that to revive Voldemort, Peter Pettigrew severed his hand. Later, Voldemort rewarded Peter with a silver hand. However, when Peter was trying to kill Harry by choking him with the silver hand, Harry reminded him that he had once spared his life.
On hearing Harry’s words and being reminded of his actions, Peter hesitated for a moment. This single moment became his reason for death. The very same silver hand strangled him to death after it sensed Peter’s hesitation and interpreted it as a form of betrayal.
The parallels between the deaths of Peter Pettigrew in Harry Potter books and Issac Night in Wednesday Season 2 are truly ironic. Both Peter Pettigrew and Issac were known for their betrayals. Issac betrayed Gomez, and Peter betrayed his friends.
In the end, both are killed by the very things that they thought were under their control. Issac’s death by his own severed body part is nothing short of poetic justice.
Peter Pettigrew’s death in the movies is depicted in a completely different manner than in the Harry Potter books. The books truly make Peter’s death grim and dark. The idea of a person’s own tools of evil ultimately becoming the very instruments of their own destruction makes the final moments of both these characters memorable. Wednesday Season 2 definitely takes the element of darkness up a notch.
