Jennifer Holland has been through a lot as Emilia Harcourt in Peacemaker Season 2, but nothing tested her as much as two specific moments packed with raw energy and emotional difficulty.
“It was a difficult two days, but I had an incredible time with the best stunt and fight coordinators.”
Holland told Variety, recalling how physically demanding and emotionally charged those scenes in Peacemaker Season 2 were. The actress opened up about what it really took to bring Harcourt’s toughest battles to life and why they mattered so much to her character.
Looking at the craft: Holland’s emotional exhaustion behind the bar fight in Peacemaker Season 2
In Peacemaker Season 2, Harcourt's first fight scene happens in the very first episode of the season, and it sets the entire mood for her character arc. Once a high-ranking A.R.G.U.S. agent, she's left shattered and angry after being rejected by the very system she herself served in.
When she lashes out at a group of men in a dimly lit bar, the fight becomes less of an action moment and more of an emotional purge. Holland revealed to Variety that the sequence demanded weeks of preparation and total focus. She said;
"It's pretty different, such as the bar fight scene. We rehearsed for weeks and it was really draining."
The exhaustion wasn't just physical, but it also made us familiar with Harcourt's emotional inner turmoil in Peacemaker Season 2. Holland added that the aggression seen in the scene reflected sides of Harcourt that had never been explored before.
"The bar fight was incredibly emotionally charged, because it has things about Harcourt that we haven't explored yet coming out in that aggression."
Those two days of filming turned out to be some of the hardest of her acting career. Holland talked about them as being the most difficult two days, but she was quick to also credit her collaborators:
"I had an incredible time with the best stunt and fight coordinators."
The scenes themselves unfold like a representation of Harcourt's season-long battle as a woman fighting not just men twice her size, but also handling the leftovers of betrayal, guilt, and the suppressed affection for Peacemaker. It reminds audiences that Harcourt's strength comes from her pain as much as her power.
The symbolic confrontation: Fighting the Nazis and Harcourt’s inner war
The second fight sequence in Peacemaker Season 2 takes a darker turn, quite literally and thematically. In Episode 7, Harcourt faces off against A.R.G.U.S. operatives who, in an alternate dimension, are revealed to be Nazis. It's one of the most shocking reveals of the season, and it places her in a situation where the stakes are not just personal, but moral.
Holland recalled the day vividly, sharing how she walked onto set and discovered she. would be learning a completely new fight sequence from scratch. Holland told Variety, saying:
"I walked onto set and learned that I was going to learn a fight sequence that I had never learned before..."
Luckily, she was already in rhythm with the stunt team. She explained;
"Fortunately, with the stunts team, they had worked with me on multiple other fights prior to this one in this episode so I knew what to expect..."
Despite the chaos, Holland admitted that it turned out to be one of her favorite experiences of the entire shoot.
"It was so fun, because I got to throw a 'Mein Kampf' at a Nazi's face. It was pretty amazing..."
The fight was choreographed to reflect Harcourt's internal journey, capturing her defiance and her confrontation with entrenched ideology. It also showcased her unwavering resolve to stand her ground in a reality warped beyond recognition.
For fans, that moment with Harcourt using Hitler's manifesto as a weapon is as symbolic as it gets. It isn't just action for spectacle; it's commentary. The physical fight doubles as Harcourt's moral reckoning, an act of rebellion against the world that tried to rewrite what she stands for.
Jennifer Holland's two standout fight scenes in Peacemaker Season 2 are far more than stunts, and they're storytelling tools that strip away Harcourt's emotional armor.
Through pain and fierce defiance, Holland brings out the core of a character who's constantly at war with herself and the world around her. Her commitment to these scenes in Peacemaker Season 2 easily turns action into art, reminding fans that sometimes the hardest fights aren't the ones fought with fists, but with proper stance.
