The White Lotus Season 3’s friends trio storyline was one of the most talked-about dynamics within the show. Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon and Michelle Monaghan, starred in the HBO comedy drama as three longtime best friends, Kate, Laurie and Jaclyn, who were not as close as they pretended to be.

In one of the most memorable scenes of the season, the three upmarket friends out to explore around the town, found themselves trapped amid a festival where children took shots at them with water guns. With no way out and no one to understand their language, they were completely drenched.

The scene drew laughs from the audience, but Leslie Bibb recently revealed that it was actually the most difficult sequence to shoot in The White Lotus Season 3. During an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the actress said the Thai festival, called Songkran, was being celebrated in real life when they shot the scene:

“We got there and it was like 300 extras, all with water guns, and it was a nightmare. I looked over and our crew members had [water guns], and they were just shooting at us, and I was like, ‘This is a nightmare'."

The Songkran festival was showcased in The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 4, when Kate, Laurie, and Jaclyn decided to see around the town and visit a nearby resort on Valentin's suggestion. They were eventually stuck in an alley, where children and adults soaked them using water guns.

During her interview, Leslie Bibb revealed that as the festival was happening in person during the filming, she wanted to experience it, but regretted the decision later:

“When we were there, [the festival] actually happened in real time and everyone’s like, 'Let's go!’ And I was like, 'No, I want to experience' – I was Daniel Day Lewis–ing it – I was like, 'I'm gonna experience it for real between action and cut.”

In the show, the trio eventually makes it out of the festival, frustrated and annoyed as their expensive clothes get ruined. Bibb further revealed that she was also concerned about whether the water in the guns was filtered:

“I'd be like, 'Is that bottled?' They're like, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.’ And I was like, 'Oh, we're all getting diarrhea. We're all getting diarrhea. This is all going nowhere.”

Despite the hardships, Bibb added that the scene was still a fun experience as it was Carrie Coon’s last day on the set. What made the occasion even more special was that her husband, Sam Rockwell, arrived in Bangkok to recur in The White Lotus Season 3 as Frank:

“I think it was Carrie's last day, and so it felt very celebratory and everyone was so mischievous. And then we finished all the beach stuff, and we went back to Bangkok, and then Sammy showed up in Bangkok.”

Apart from the three ladies, The White Lotus Season 3 starred Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, Sarah Catherine Hook, Aimee Lou Wood, Lalisa Manobal, and Tayme Thapthimthong.

The White Lotus Season 3 is available to stream on Max.
