Created by Darren Star, Emily in Paris is a romantic comedy and drama series that features Lily Collins, Ashley Park, and others. The show premiered on Netflix in 2020 and has had four seasons until now. Known for its fashion statements and stylish outfits, the show has gained a lot of virality since its premiere.
The series essentially focuses on the adventures of Emily Cooper (Collins), who is an American. However, when she moves to Paris to offer an American point of view to a French marketing firm, her life turns upside down as she juggles her career, relationships, and friendships.
Even though Emily in Paris has sometimes garnered mixed reviews over its depiction of the French people, the show has still become one of the most sought-after series in the modern times, as viewers like to watch the shenanigans of Emily, who tries to adjust to the culture of Paris and handle her life.
With four seasons under its belt and featuring many actors, Emily in Paris is getting ready to premiere for a fifth season; however, as with other actors in the past who have been written off from the show, there is another actor who has revealed that he won’t be a part of Emily in Paris Season 5.
Rupert Everett confirms his absence from Emily in Paris Season 5

Known for his role in the Julia Roberts starrer, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Rupert Everett is known for his comic timing and dedication to his roles. The veteran actor recently revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that he was “fired” from Emily in Paris and won’t be returning to the show in its fifth season.
Everett made his appearance on the fourth season of the show as Italian fashion designer Giorgio Barbieri and gave a dedicated performance. However, as the actor bluntly states, he won’t be coming back. Everett goes on to state,
“I did a scene in the latest seasons and they told me, ‘Next year we’ll speak.’ I waited for them to call me, but ultimately, it never came, and they just fired me.”
The actor goes on to comment in the same interview that,
“Show business is always very difficult, from beginning to the end. When they write the screen play, they think they want you, but then things change, and they lose your character. I don’t know why.”
Finally, Rupert Everett comments that,
“For me, it was a tragedy, I was in bed for two weeks because I couldn’t get over it.”
While Vanity Fair mentions that Netflix declined to comment on Everett’s statements, other news outlets like US Weekly also reached out to the streaming giant and are waiting for a response.
On the other hand, Vanity Fair mentions that “a source close to the production” told the outlet that Everett had been hired as a "guest star" and that his character’s story arc had come to a "conclusion."
Other actors who won’t be appearing in Emily in Paris Season 5

As mentioned above, there have been other actors in Emily in Paris who have also been written off from the show. In Season 5, Camille Razat will also not appear, like Everett. Razat played the role of Camille, a gallerist, who dated Chef Gabriel and caused tension with Emily as the protagonist also fell for the chef. Razat confirmed her exit in a TVLine interview. Other people who have left the show are Kate Walsh as Madeline, who was Emily’s boss in Chicago and Charles Martins as Matthieu, who was a love interest for Emily.
Emily in Paris is available on Netflix.
