Stephen King’s chilling It universe, first brought to life on the big screen in 2017, is expanding with a prequel series titled It: Welcome to Derry on HBO Max. The prequel series is brought to the small screen by the original (film) creators the Muschietti siblings, Andy & Barbara and Jason Fuchs.

It: Welcome to Derry is set 20 years before the first It film and will feature another chilling cycle of horror and terror of the shape-shifting clown Pennywise. The series will contain a total of eight episodes, released weekly on HBO Max, starting from October 26.

The world was first captivated by King's It universe through the 2017 film, following which Pennywise the clown became a horror icon. The series will follow a new tale of horror and dread with a new cast, which will uncover chilling secrets about one of King's most fascinating creations.

Here is the complete It: Welcome to Derry cast and character guide.

It: Welcome to Derry cast: Meet the main players in the horror prequel

The Muschietti siblings are all set to expand King's horror-verse with Welcome to Derry, which boasts a new ensemble of actors (with one familiar face). The main cast for the upcoming series is as follows:

Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise: Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård will reprise his iconic and infamous character of Pennywise from the It movies, making him the only actor to return from the original cast. The actor has now become synonymous with the shape-shifting clown and Pennywise will return in a new avatar for a new cycle of horror and violence.

Jovan Adepo as Leroy Hanlon: Emmy-nominated actor Jovan Adepo is among the newest additions to the It: Welcome to Derry cast and he will play the character of Leroy Hanlon. If the last name sounds similar, Leroy is the grandfather of Mike Hanlon, the character played by Chosen Jacobs and Isaiah Mustafa in the earlier It movies. Leroy is a newly arrived Air Force Major in Maine, who will get embroiled in his new town's sinister happenings.

Taylour Paige as Charlotte Hanlon: The breakthrough Zola star is the next addition in the It: Welcome to Derry cast and will play the character of Charlotte, Leroy's wife. Charlotte is a schoolteacher and will directly get involved in Pennywise's new cycle of horror when her students start experiencing strange and horrific things.

Chris Chalk as Dick Hallorann: The name Dick Halloran will certainly ring a bell for Stephen King readers. He is a fictional character who also appears in his other works, including The Shining and Doctor Sleep. Gotham star Chris Chalk will bring Dick to life, who will be the community leader in the series. It will be exciting to see how the character will grapple with Pennywise's terror and save his townspeople.

James Remar as General Shaw- Dexter star James Remar is another addition in the It: Welcome to Derry cast, who will play the character of General Shaw, who is stationed at the town's air force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Since the upcoming prequel series will also tap into its time period's Cold War paranoia, General Shaw will likely be an important character.

Supporting cast and characters for It: Welcome to Derry

It: Welcome to Derry will welcome a new cast of child actors, who will be plagued by the creepy clown Pennywise in their town of Miane. The trailer features these school children lurking in their town's sewers to uncover the sinister things and terrifying visions plaguing them. The child cast for the prequel series includes Blake Cameron James as Will Hanon, Clara Stack as Lilly, Amanda Christine as Ronnie and Mikkal Karim-Fidler as Teddy.

The additional supporting cast for the show includes Stephen Rider as Derry’s local movie theater operator Hank, Rudy Mancuso as one of Leroy's allies Captain Paulie Russo and Madeleine Stowe as an unidentified character deeply rooted in Pennywise's past.

Catch the It: Welcome to Derry premiere on HBO Max on October 26.
